Have used these for 2 winters in our barn and not even a layer of ice has formed in horses waters. We use them in 1/2 barrel size buckets and they have worked great in near 0 temperatures. Highly recommend!

Northern Pennsylvania is where I'm at and this product worked great to keep my chicken water warm through low temperature weather

I've learned that many submersible heaters like this aren't perfect. This one is close. It heats really well, even in below 0 temperatures. Ice had formed on the surface of my ducks water container, but the water under it was liquid, and there was a hole on the top of the ice where the heat came from this heater. It has a feature to turn on and off based on the temperature...this seemingly works. I'm VERY glad I came across this one, as all the others I've bought have failed me. In terms of value, it seems to be comparable to similar items. Overall, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I ordered this hoping it would keep one of our water troughs from freezing over. It has worked great. We just came out of two days below freezing temps. Of the five water troughs this one never formed any ice. It’s about fifty gallons but I’m confident it would work in a larger tank. The unit is very well made. The only negative is it’s not ground fault protected. I replaced the existing receptacle with a ground fault receptacle. If you’re tired of breaking ice twice a day this will fix that problem. Just remember you need electricity. We have a couple of floating water heaters but one of the horses kept trying to play with it. We were concerned about that. This one sinks to the bottom. I recommend it.

This water heater works well for small livestock troughs. It is not made for the 300 gallon troughs but it'll do the 50 gallon ones. The entire heating element is enclosed which is a must for animals and their curiosity. I don't have to worry about my dogs or horses burning their noses or mouths on it. So far it is working good during our 20-30 degree winter weather. I don't know how it would do in colder than that as we haven't had those temps hit yet. But it does seem just as capable so far as the heaters we get from the feed store so it hopefully will hold up just fine in the 10-20 degree temps.

The photo makes it look like this can be outdoors but the directions warn that it has to be kept out of high winds and rain? We live on a mountain so that is our usual weather most of the winter. Fairly decent thickness on the cord and good length, but is clearly meant for inside a barn. Keeps the water at good temperature and prevents ice from forming. Seems safe and no problems with function so far. Doesn’t bother the horses at all.

Everyone should realize, the right size of tool is best for the job! The KNEOYR 500W submersible de-icer is the small black self-contained unit on the left of the picture I've included. Sometimes a smaller de-icer like this one fits the job perfectly! This is my first purchase of a smaller de-icer having been only acquainted with the larger models before. I appreciate that the Teflon coating on this KNEOYR 500W De-icer Submersible water heater provides a corrosion resistance which means it should last a long time and the one's I've used before have a tendency to rust and decay on the exposed wire areas over time. I also like that the dark color doesn't attract unwarranted attention from an animal's curiosity. Sometimes colors and shape of an item leads to mouthing of the equipment and/or a disturbance of the item's placement. My animals have completely ignored this little machine. The 3-meter power cord was long enough for us to install the de-icer inside of a 50-gallon, stock tank set just inside of the pasture's fence line. The tank it's in is used to water the smaller livestock and a lab (dog)-water guzzler who drinks frequently while in the pasture, during the winter. Because of their height and construction, larger de-icer models required the tank to be filled more frequently just to make sure they were covered and left alone by the animals. The "KNEOYR 500W De-icer Submersible" allows the water to still be drinkable even when the level gets down to 1" without being dislodged and thereby seems far more reliable when used in the smaller animal drinking containers. (Not that I recommend letting a water tank stay at a lower level during the winter. Animals need liquid to be calm, comfortable, and healthy.) However, this product gives an owner a greater sense of security that their animals' water is going to be consumable, and that there's a little more time in the winter day to get the tank filled. I appreciate that this KNEOYR 500W is helping me keep my animals healthy and comfortable during the cold weather season.
