This pipe is inside a small building weatherized for winter. I wrapped the item like direction said with the thermostat up against the pipe and the package didn’t give enough insulation for the entire thermostat, heat tape, which was odd but focused on the main area at the beginning that gives the birds water. Had to do some cross wrapping where the main part of the water comes out because there was a little extra heat tape, but it worked perfectly. Entire pipe was frozen last night except for one cup that they could punch through, but was still frozen technically. Had to pull all the ice out And try to thaw out the pipe. Not sure how I’m going to return this because the sticky tape is wrapped around the entire pipe so now I might have to replace the entire pipe and the cups I bought for them. They’re small birds so they need a special way to get their water. Especially for it to stay clean.

Worked out great. I was able to use it in a very tight spot by doubling back on it. I beat the cold vortex and saved a Tennessee pipe from breaking!

We have a mobile home and the water supply is under the house. There is about 3 feet of pipe from where it comes out of the ground and up to the bottom of the house. This 6 foot long heat tape kit worked perfectly for me to double wrap the pipe. Now I feel more confident that the pipes won't freeze under the house. I like that it has a thermostat to turn on and off depending on ambient temperature as to not raise our electric bill by being on constantly.

I got this heating line to keep my chicken waterer from freezing. I’m hoping it will combat the cold weather. I opted for the 5 w to hopefully preserve power so hopefully it’s enough heat to work. We don’t get too crazy cold temperatures but 20s to 30s is cold enough for me. The tape this comes with is nice and sticky and holds the cable tight to my water line. Here’s to a pain free winter I hope with no burst lines!
