  • 5W Constant Power: The heating cable consists of a 5-foot power cord and a heating strip of 60 feet, consuming only 5 watts per foot. It significantly reduces energy consumption, offering significant energy savings over traditional heaters
  • Self-Regulating Temp Control: The water pipe heating cable features a smart temperature sensor that automatically activates heating below 5°C and stops above 15°C, not only preventing water pipes from freezing but also saving on energy costs
  • Universal Pipe Protection: This heating cable works wonders on plastic and metal water pipes, effectively preventing freezing or bursting. It also performs well for RVs, water inlets, drains, and tree frost protection, but not for empty plastic pipes
  • Simple Setup: The heating cable is highly serviceable and flexible, making it easy to wrap around water pipes in a straight or spiral manner without the need for complicated tools. To ensure safety, please do not overlap the cable
  • Safety Testing: Before installation, if you want to check the heating cable, uncoil it and subject it to temperatures under 0°C. After a few minutes, you should notice warmth along the cable, indicating that it is functioning properly

Georgia doesn't see many days and nights concurrently below freezing. When we do, we see bursting pipes. I added this to the pipes in my well house with the "thermostat" on the ground below the pipes so it would kick on based on ground temp. I went outside and checked once we had been below freezing enough to effect the temp of the ground. Sure enough, the heat tape had kicked on and was warm around the pipes. Two thumbs up!

A hot wire to keep my pipes from freezing. So far they have not frozen.I like that the thermostat is at the end because that's the part I needed to keep warm.

This WILAWELS 6Ft Heat Tape for Water Pipes did not work for me, even in very cold environment when it should have turned on. WILAWELS 6Ft Heat Tape for Water Pipes did not appear to produce any heat when I examined it with a FLIR device I have. WILAWELS 6Ft Heat Tape for Water Pipes does not seem to have any independent lab safety testing certifications either.

With the winter months upon us all, there is a need to protect pipes from the sub-zero temperatures. This is the solution that I was looking for (I didn't test it for it's other possible uses). I zip tied the sensor as close as possible to the outdoor end of the pipe and spiral-wrapped the pipe with the blue wire. Having used other brands, I will say that this wire is much more flexible and easier to wrap. What was a 30 minute job with another wire was a 10 minute job here. The best advice is to use some foil tape to hold the wire in place, but you could get away with zip ties I suppose. One thing to note that isn't mentioned anywhere in the instructions is that the temperature sensor is located on the very end of the blue wire. When the temperatures got down, I could feel it heating up the pipe. Be sure to place that firmly against whatever you're wanting it to sense. After hooking it up and waiting for a cold day (didn't take long) I was able to tell that the wire was heating the pipe up just fine. I'm glad I got this.

Right before the big freeze in Texas I ordered this to use to protect a cascabel chile plant I’ve nurtured for almost a year. It arrived with a minor manufacturing defect. While I was able to patch the defect the Seller has worked with me on a replacement anyway. I really appreciate this Sellers dedication to quality and their desire to make everything right. If I need more heat tracing I will buy this again.

They call this "Heat Tape" but it's really a thick well insulated wire. There is no adhesive on it you must attach it to the pipe with electrical tape or some other fastener that will not be loose it's grip when it heats up. I'm using this for a water shutoff pipe that is in an unheated garage. It doesn't happen often but when the house is unoccupied, the heat in the house is set to 55 F this shutoff valve in the attached garage can get down below freezing when the weather is really cold and the wind is blowing. I was running a small electric heater in the garage near the pipe but this Heat Tape is a much better solution. I contacts the pipe directly and has it's own thermostat to turn itself off and on. Much cheaper to run this than the heater. The thermostat is at the end (farthest from the plug) of the wire so you want to make sure that it's at the coldest part of the pipe. They warn you several times not to wrap the tape over itself because it might melt the insulation. Just take your time and think about how you want to set it up and don't order more (bigger) tape than you need. I plan on wrapping the pipe with the tape attached in some non-flammable insulation.
