It takes a little work, but I was able to replace my other key fobs. They work perfectly with the motherboard and key from the old fobs.

This is a must buy is you need a replacement key! My original key lost all of the buttons and the inside was open to the elements so I needed a new key bad, I was able to switch the board on the inside of the keys so I wouldn't have to call a locksmith. The key is holding up very well on day 2 of use and feels almost like the original.

My old key fob was starting to fall apart, and I only had the one...so I needed to come up with something, and paying a few hundred at the car dealership was not my first choice! What a great option vs the expensive car dealership! I found a gent that programs these for the auto mall in town and took them to him to program for $20 for both! They are working great (after months of use), and haven't let me down! At first I checked with my local Ace who said they would program it for me...then changed their minds once I waited days for the guy that does the programing to come to work...so I was fortunate to find the gent that does them for the car dealerships (and Ace wanted to charge me $55 each!).I would suggest if you have the means to have them programed, or can figure it out via videos...get them! You save a lot of money this way!

I have a 2013 Chevy Sonic, my buttons on my fob fell off. I got this one and switched the computer chip out with mine and knocked out the pin for the key its self and replaced it with mine. It now works like new. Saved me at least $200 per key. It was a pain getting the pin in after switching out the key but watched some YouTube video and filed down some of the metal like the videos showed and it fit perfect. Minimal work to save hundreds of dollars.

So, the key fob comes with all the internal boards/battery - obviously need the key cut if needed. Here was the issue, the mechnaism that flips the key out; was cut different than what my orignal factory key had. So, I had to use the new key gear/spring. In this case, I had to knock out the pin that holds the actual key in on my old key/new one to put in my key. This is NOT an easy process if you have to do that.I wound up having to drill out the small pin hole because I could not punch it out. This is obviously not a fault of the seller of the key - but definately a flaw in design. The only reason I didn't give a good rating as this gears were not aligned/drilled the same as the factory - They were off by a little bit. (if I could've just taken my old key out and put it in the new fob; I would've had it done within minutes.)Other than that; the product is a great deal for the price.

These work great! Had to go to Ace Hardware to get the key cut($20 each). It was very simple to program. If I can do it, anyone can. They're awesome!

If you want to swap a working key into the fob it isn't directly doable as the gearing doesn't match up OEM.You will have to remove a set pin on old key and install it onto the fob swivel part. Otherwise it works perfectly. You will probably want to watch a how to on YouTube to program it, very simple. I'm happy it really saved me money over a factory remote and locksmith installer.

For clarity of explanation of programming, I highly recommend the YouTube video by PYR automotive, “How to Program a Chevrolet Impala Smart key Remote Fob”. Couldn’t be explained any better. Still it’s easy to fail (Don’t forget to use the Fob to lock the car to finish the procedure). Allow a lot of time. Still perseverance will be rewarded.I think I tried three times before I got it right, but the first try was according to a different instructor. In all about 2.5 -3 hours for me. That was okay this time because I was hanging out in the Walmart parking lot while the wife was shopping. Actually made the waiting a little better. Before you try to program the fob you need to get it cut (copying) the cut from the other key I hope you have. Search for an “automotive locksmith”. Pretty sure it can’t be done by the box stores or kiosks. There comes a time in the procedure when all existing key fobs will no longer work. So you need to have them all close by for the programming. After my second attempt, I was in a car in the Walmart Parking lot Saturday night at 10:00, and realized I no longer had a working key for my car. A little bit of an adrenaline.Third time was the charm. Proved it when my old fob started working again. But the new one would only lock and unlock doors. It would not permit starting. Two came in the package. And I also have a 2014 impala. Which is different because it is not a push button start. Call me a glutton for punishment, I’m going to give it a try.As for the 2019, this afternoon I stopped at the dealer, provided the VIN, bought a GM fob and have confidence I will be able to program it after it’s cut. I suppose getting it cut could be considered optional. Problem is you don’t want to be locked outside your car with no power. Only time you ever need it to be cut.
