I really like this crochet kit. The finished unicorn is a little bigger than the size of my closed fist so a perfect size for my kiddo to add to her collection.Most importantly, this unicorn kit is the perfect way to learn to crochet. The kit contains everything you need: yarn, crochet hook, stitch markers, stuffing, button eyes, and instructions booklets on basic crochet technique and the schema for the unicorn. Furthermore, the instruction videos are really good for basic skills and this particular toy.As someone who’s never crochet before, I found the instruction pretty easy to follow—I did have to refer back to the basic skill videos when I start a new stitch in the beginning. But after maybe 10 rows in, I was pretty happy to just follow the paper instruction on the new rows rather than the videos.I initially bought this to learn to crochet so I can help my kiddo as she learns on her Wobbles kit. For comparison, the wobbles kit is also excellent, the wobble videos are very good for beginners, literally going over stitch by stitch with clear video clips. However, I found the video instruction a little slow after the first few rows. My kiddo like the wobbles videos more, and complained that this one was going too fast.The yarn in this kit is pretty comparable to the wobble kit ones and plenty for the whole project. Good beginning yarn that doesn’t fray or tangle much, very easy to handle.All in all, for less than $20, this was a 4-5 hour beginner project that was satisfactory to complete with a cute end product. Hopefully the maker will have more kits on the future.

I am a beginner and tried this crochet project. I needed help with it but had a crochet queen next to me to help with some of the instructions as I didn’t understand some of them. The yarn is a good quality and so is the stuffing they provided. The finished product came out exactly as the online photos in the description on Amazon showed!

My grand daughter wanted to learn to crochet and bought this kit. I wanted to be able to help her if she got stuck so I bought one too. She didn't get past step one without my help. It took me three tries to get that first step, but then I could show her. Each row took me three tries to come out with the right number of stitches at the end. But after row 4 nothing I did made the numbers come out right. My grand daughter gave up long before I did. Now, many frustrating hours later, I give up too. I don't know if she will ever give it another shot but I went searching and was very happy to find 25 Crochet Projects for Absolute Beginners posted by Elise @eliserosecrochet AND I am happy to report that I was able to easily complete one of those projects and was able to redeem my crochet experience, using the supplies from this kit.

Awesome kit. Got it for my 9-year-old daughter's birthday. Looked daunting at first, but sh e learned the first stitch within a minute, building up the skills to complete the project.

Like all of these kits, it is not for an absolute beginner. You really need to have knowledge of how to do the basic stitches for the instructions to not be confusing. But this design is simple enough to be entry level. The result is cute if a little wonky.
