The original urea saddle seemed good and I like the midrangy sound it gives (I swapped saddles back and forth with same strings), but this new bone saddle provides increased sustain and a more resonant sound especially on the low strings. Some sanding off the bottom as expected. I highly recommend this saddle.

Careful sanding and fitting yielded a very nice bone saddle. Inotation was near perfect, sounds great on my Yamaha LL-TA and Looks so much better than the plastic tone sucker that was there. Worth the effort to fit for certain.

Great Quality Product with accurate description. Some final fitment required as should be expected. Final fitment will always ( OK ALMOST ALWAYS) be required for a saddle. The product offered here is accurately sized for the described fitment and only minor final fitment to the bridge and for desired action height is necessary. Definitely the best quality Bone I have seen available on amazon so far. (First portion pasted from my other review from same supplier this one is for a different guitar and product but the same applies) This purchased for my Yamaha FG700s fits perfect, as before final fitment required. In this case +/- .5mm in length and height adjustment as desired. Was able to get to what I consider a perfect Action with great intonation. As with all things pertaining to guitar setup your results will vary based on skill level and time invested. Will not hesitate to buy again for any other guitars I work on as having a mostly shaped saddle significantly shortens the process and these are of great quality.

I ordered a bone saddle for my Yamaha fs800 from MacNichol.com who specializes in cutting bone saddles for acoustic guitars. I was worried that it would fit without lots of sanding and adjustments. The saddle that came on my guitar was very loose from the factory, And I wanted to improve the sound as well.. The bone saddle arrived in three days as promised. I installed it and it fit perfectly. No issues at all, it is snug and tight, It improved the sound of an already good sounding guitar, I am so pleased I ordered it. And by the way it is also compensated, no retuning needed as you capo up and down the neck. I am a retired professional musician 82 years old. Still doing solo gigs occasionally. I would like to put a plug in for the Yamaha guitar company for building an fs800 acoustic for $199.00. Great sound, good playing, excellent volume, lot’s of base. Check it out!!Wayne W. Smith Sr

I purchased an unbleached nut for a Yamaha FG800 without an undersaddle pickup. The nut fit almost perfectly (very minor sanding on outside edges) and the customization of the saddle height done with the included sandpaper. A couple of test installs, and sanding, to get the string height perfect. I did round the break points on the E and B strings, but that is a personal touch to reduce string breakage. The saddle fits perfectly with very little effort and the difference in sound is noticeable - before and after recording differences are audibly discernible (tad more mid range and lows) and can actually be seen in spectral graphs and loudness graphs. I will be doing business with McNichols again!

My guitar is a little Yamaha with Dean Markley Vintage Bronze Extra Lights. They are 10s.I can't tell if it sounds "better" but it does sound different, and feels nicer. I think maybe it sounds more even? Before my 3 low strings sounded way dead and quiet. I also can't tell if the guitar sounds any louder, but I think maybe it projects more? The overall sound sorta sounds like it has slight reverb now.I had to sand quite a bit off the height to get it as short as the stock plastic one, but it is thicker and wider than the stock, so it actually fills the slot in the bridge now.My stock plastic one measured 74mm X 2.8mm and is about 8.1mm tall at the tallest point. I sanded the new one down to about 7.9mm at the tallest point. I probably should have went with 8.0mmAll my strings go slightly sharp at the 12th fret, but according to my tuner it looks like they all go sharp about the same amount, so soloing (which I don't do) would be a little bright.I never checked this with the old saddle, so I'm not sure if that has changed any.I had a guy make me some bone bridge pins (Size 4.2d slotted are correct for Yamaha) and he dyed them brown. I also sent him my bridge saddle to dye brown to match and it looks great!I liked this saddle so much I ordered another one for my 1980 Yamaha FG 331 that has had a plastic Martin saddle that didn't even fit right for the last 20+ years, but sounded and played nice. Now I am really amazed by the new sound! It's like a completely different guitar! The neck still needs to be set up, but the intonation is pretty close. It's very slightly flat at the 12th fret. I'm going to take both my guitars to a shop and have them both professionally set up.I want a bone nut for my full size Yamaha, and maybe an ebony nut for the little one just to be different? Maybe I will get bone for both?

Just got 2 of these saddles for my Yamaha LJ6 and LL6. There were no light or dark spots visible with a candle - that's good. Width was perfect, length required 10 seconds of sanding, height required more sanding - no problem as it allows action to be fine-tuned. My guitars have built in pickups under the saddle so getting a flat bottom on the saddle is important for even volume. To get a proper fit I followed the video and also, when sanding the bottom I put a level on edge on the sandpaper and slid the saddle along the edge of the level to get a 90 degree angle - worked great. With the previous Urea/plastic saddle the guitar sounded pretty good except for the B string - it sounded harsh and unmusical from the third to the 6th fret. The bone saddle cured that problem along with giving the guitar a Richer more even sound. To my ears the volume and sustain didn't change but the overall tone is improved in a way I really like. I am delighted with the outcome. Update - after playing the guitar for some time I do hear more sustain than before - volume is still about the same.
