This chisel set is another example of poor Chinese engineering. The chisels exhibit cheap metal and bad machined edges. I returned this item because it was useless.

This was an interesting purchase. The product looked sound in the Amazon listing. For the price I took a chance.Product arrived today. Let’s start with the positive. Product arrived in a timely fashion. The handles are real wood. The tool is real metal (though grade of steel is not stamped on the hafts). They are a decent weight and feel fine in the hand, though unbalanced. The variety of chisel tips is good (not great).Now the negative. I’ve ordered many tools online. I was shocked to see that every one of the 12 have not been sharpened (honed). This was stunning. To be clear, they have been beveled (you can still see the tool marks across the blade in the photo) not sharpened.The hammer ring at the end is a nice touch. But….at best it is a light metal (aluminum) but I’m highly suspicious that the ring is plastic. If these were metal like the haft of the tool, it would lay balanced in your hand. Instead, hold it loosely in your hand and it will want to pitch forward. This ring is way too light and greatly diminishes the tool. As aforementioned, the variety of tool tips is good, not great. There are a lot of flat edge options. No “v” or “u” tips here. All variations of the same straight blade theme.I’ll keep them. I shouldn’t be surprised because of the price. I gave a low rating because I’m going to have to do a lot of work honing these before they can be used. Without the steel stamp, I’m not certain how well these will hold an edge. My work may be in vain. The plastic-like hammer ring also was a let down. They look so nice, but feel so wrong.I’m hopeful that they will find a place on my work bench. But, at worst they may make a great chisel type toy for my grandson to learn on. My only fear there is that a dull tool is more dangerous than a sharp one. We’ll see.

I don't often need curved edge chisels but these are not that good, even or occasional use. They are not that sharp. Which is bad for new chisels. The handles are not very comfortable to grips and are cheaply made. They have metal ring that is supposed to keep them from splitting should need to use a mallet on the chisel, but I don't think they would take much abuse at all.

I like the fact these are CRV steel. Super super sharp and will carve well. These are all rounded edges and should be a great addition to your wood working set.
