I like that the tool was intuitive to use and remained sharp. I was using this to square up the corners of the mortises for a garden bench I was building. I hope for this tone an heirloom piece, so I had to work cautiously and this tool significantly helped to shape my mortise corners

This product has a decently comfortable handle and a metal strike plate on the back for when you need to use a little encouragement. I honestly didn’t think it would perform as well as it did, and as long as I used it slowly and methodically I didn’t have any issues. It’s not going to be exactly like a handmade Japanese chisel, but I don’t need one for what I do anyway.The quality is pretty decent and it’s a good value for what they’re asking for it. I did notice a little bit of a burr on the sharpened end that did not get taken care of, so make sure to clean that up or sharpen it. That’s for all your chisels, just keep them sharp, get over the nervousness and learn how to at least to a basic quick sharpening job on them.

This chisel is perfect for squaring up the corners of routed mortises. I cut the tenons on a table saw and have to either round the tenons to fit the route or square the mortise. Squaring the mortise is the easier of the two options to me. I usually use a 1/4” chisel for this task but have had getting a square corner chisel on my mind for a while now. So far I have only experienced regret for not getting one sooner as it makes getting a clean cut a breeze. It’s a real time saver.This chisel is a hollow core design with the cutting edge on the inside of the 90degree. The cutters are just shy of 1/2” or 12 mm for the rest of the world making it a great size to have if you can only have one. The finish is some kind of black oxide and it sports a ribbed rubber handle the fits the hand well. It has a solid striking head but whether or not it is in direct contact with the working end is anyone guess. It is sharp on arrival but could be sharper. This chisel will be a bear to sharpen since I can’t guide the process with any of the sharpeners I presently own but it can be done with patience and finesse.Overall it’s a nice product that will be useful for lots of different task. Beyond mortise and tenon applications I can see where this chisel would be super useful for hanging blank doors that have to be mortised for hinges and striker plates. Also for squaring up jam penetrations behind the strike plates.For the entry price of less than twenty bucks this chisel represents a good value for the level of usefulness and potential longevity of the product. I recommend you go ahead and get one of these if you have thought about one in the past. I wish it was a little bit longer overall just because I like long chisels but that’s just my habits speaking and in no way detracts from the usefulness of this chisel. Just remember to keep them sharp and your chisels will serve you well.

This square chisel really comes in handy when make a square mortise. When using your router to make a mortise you get rounded edges, so using this chisel makes it easier to square up your mortise. It came sharp out of the box and is a well made sturdy tool. I wish I knew about this chisel years ago.

I can put force and drag my finger across the edge. There's a roll as if it hit a finish nail. I'll probably cut myself with a spoon before this. This was bought as a cheap proof of concept. I suggest spending on a quality one or not (this one) At all. I use a normal chisel and keep a honing stone so it's edge is sharp enough to shave with. This disaster is might use

I didn't need a corner chisel for the longest time, but once I did this was perfect.It holds up (which is especially important for the situations where you need to use the metal strike plate) and makes the job easy.
