Overall, this chisel set is a great starter set. The handle and the chisel are sturdy and durable. The blades come sharpened to a very precise edge. The grip does not wobble, and is not loose at all. It comes in a storage bag and with protective slip on, plastic guards to prevent accidental cuts. The only other chisel set that I can compare this to would be the Dewalt brand. I have not tried the super high-end Japanese chisels, but buddy of mine that borrowed my chisel set, said that your quality is very close and/or similar. I cannot speak to longevity, but they do seem to hold their own edge very well so far!

Functional decent chisels for a low price. I like them better than my harbor freight chisels or the low price brands at home depot. Steel isn't anything amazing but I can strop them sharp and they have cut well enough to do a few joints.

If you do light work and need something reliable and organized this is good for the price.

Ich habe mir die Stechbeitel gekauft, um ein Scharnier einzulassen, was sehr gut funktioniert hat. Sie sind sehr scharf und ich konnte damit sehr gut arbeiten - aus meiner Sicht absolut empfehlenswert.

Handles are well constructed, the steel is hard, but the edge was poorly sharpened. It should be either a concave or flat surface on the bevel, but the bevel is not the edge surface. They gave it an extra bevel to put an edge on the chisels, therefore the bevel edge is not on the surface if held flat to the bevel, which means I have to spend some time with my bevel sharpening jig and some stones to get the rid of the 1/16” improper edge off the flat bevel edge it should have. Even the cheap Harbor Freight chisels have a proper edge, even if it isn’t as sharp as it could be.

This is a bit long because I want to add some context The first woodworking chisel I purchased was a Narex Richter extra bevel edge chisel. I only bought the 1/2" size for $46. I wanted to get one before investing in more. I like this chisel very much. It's excellent for many reasons. Then I bought the 4 piece Narex Profi bevel edge chisel set for around $50. This set came with a weird coating that was difficult to get off during the sharpening process. BTW, all chisels need to be sharpened upon arrival if you want to get a super sharp edge for woodworking. The Narex chisels work great after sharpening and seem to hold their edge well.So on to this set. I bought it on a whim. German, only $14, I figured I'd take a flyer. Worse case, I'd have a set of "I don't care" chisels to do more coarse work. The handles are smaller than the Narex chisels. So far, not a problem. I wanted to try a set with smaller handles to determine a preference.Unlike the Narex chisel set (not the Richter), this set did not have a coating on the chisel and the back seemed reasonably flat and the edge decently sharp. A good starting place to begin the flattening and sharpening process. The backs of all the chisels took a while and I started with 150 grit sandpaper on an MDF board. Then moved to a 300 grit diamond stone and finally a 1000 grit diamond stone. I'd say the work involved was much less than the Narex set and the same as the Richter chisel. Once the back was flat I put a secondary bevel on at 30 degrees. I used a Lie Nielsen honing jig to help. For the 1/4" chisel, I had to do it free hand. I started at 1000 grit diamond stone, got a bur, then moved to an 8000 grit wet sandpaper and finished all with a strop. It didn't take very much time at all to establish a razor sharp edge. The edge cut paper quite well. For $14, I'm quite pleased.I don't know how well they will hold the edge during use, but it only takes minutes to resharpen, so If your looking for an inexpensive woodworking chisel set, I recommend giving these a try.

Even though I have not worked with these chisels yet they appear to be good and well finished. Contrary to some, these ones came sharp. So far I am happy with them.

Good product. Haven't sharp them yet, but it feels quality blade. Wood and rings too.

These are the best value in chisels that I have ever had. The chisels arrived well packaged, and appeared to be of good quality. After unpacking , I began the task of flattening them, and to my surprise, it took no more than 5 minutes each. Each chisel polished to a mirror finish on its back, with minimal effort, and time. They were just as easy to get a razor sharp edge.I haven't had occasion to use them on anything other than yellow pine and walnut, but they have retained their edge as well as any others that I own.I suspect that they will not hold that edge quite as long as a top of the line, top dollar chisel, but for the money, and ease of sharpening, they can't be beaten. At 16 dollars for the entire set, I can happily sharpen a bit more frequently, and do without the coronary when one decides to roll off of my bench.Overall, they are also a pretty good looking set of chisels with decent ergonomics. If I could have one wish, it would have been nice to have had some leather caps on the bald headed end, to deaden some of the noise from the blows. This is just a great set of chisels, for very little money.UPDATE: After having more time with these, I have noticed that the steel does not hold an edge as well as I would prefer. I have been using them in some older, yellow pine that is peppered with hard, dense knots. I mentioned the fact that the pine is older yellow pine out of fairness. Yellow pine seems to gain a great deal of density, and the knots harden with age, as well as the fact that yellow pine contains a great deal of silica. None of those factors are friendly to a fine steel edge. In honesty, I don't believe that even the finest steel would hold up in that environment, but I mention it to give an honest and concise review. The down side is that the worst damage was very small chips on the edge, after using them with a mallet against the knots. Now, the redemption is the fact that the steel isn't hard enough to make removing the damage a chore. I was able to remove all damage with100 strokes on my 1000 grit diamond stone, and return to a razor sharp edge with another 100 on my 2000 grit, finalized with 30 strokes on my strop. All in all, the total process took less than 10 minutes.I still believe that, for the money, you couldn't ask for a better set of chisels. They would make an excellent purchase for someone that is just starting out, or like myself that just likes to have another set on hand for convenience. I am still thrilled with them, and would not hesitate to buy them again.

This is a good product for the price, but know it isn’t a ready to use product. It actually took some elbow grease to get the backs flattened to a proper working condition. Steel is ok and holds its edge well enough. Once sharpened they worked great.Handles are ok and hold up to wooden mallet.I’d say if you are a weekend woodworker on a budget, these will do you just fine. If you are using this for odd jobs around the house, these will do great, provided you take the time to sharpen these properly.
