1. It is designed to detect carbon monoxide gas. Not suitable for smoke detection or any other gas detection.
2. Before installing the carbon monoxide detector, peel off the plastic casing first, and then put the battery into the carbon monoxide detector.
3. Need to test once a week. Verify alarm and LED light operation by testing the unit weekly.

For less than $10 it makes me so incredibly sad when I hear in the news that yet another person/family lost their lives due to carbon monoxide poisoning and no working CO detectors! We have a small 5 room ranch with a basement and we have two! One is up in the main hallway next to our smoke detector and the other and the bottom of the steps down in the basement next to another smoke detector. We use New Year's day/January as our change the battery reminder dates and don't wait till we hear the battery is low sound. Buy these/gift these but make sure you and your loved ones are safe!

It does what it says. Since our unit failed, we have heated our home with kerosene. The detector alerts us when fumes become too toxic for our living room. It has truly been a lifesaver!

I had to order these because I always wanted to and never did. Everyone should consider owning a set because it can mean a matter of life and death. The were easy to install and it is comforting knowing that this is available and active now. Just the thought of having these around is an extra level of safety and protection.

This CO detector is small and easy to mount. Takes three AA batteries, which are not included. Simply pop the batteries in, reattached the back and mount. to test it push and hold day test button for five seconds it will beep and give you a read out of the carbon monoxide levels. So far I’ve only seen 000 displayed. I have to assume it works, I will update this review if it ever flashes red and gives me a reading. Hopefully never.
