Carbon monoxide (CO) is the leading cause of accidental poisoning deaths in America, yet many people don't know they are suffering from CO poisoning until its too late. Since symptoms of CO poisoning are like the flu, you might not even know you're in danger at first. That's why a carbon monoxide alarm is an excellent way to protect your family. It can detect the CO you can't see, smell or taste in the air.

The FIRST ALERT CO615 carbon monoxide alarm uses an electrochemical carbon monoxide sensor-the most accurate technology available. Installation is as simple as plugging it in to any wall outlet. Its easy-to-read backlit digital LED display gives you a clear read-out of current CO concentrations in parts per million. The alarm includes a battery back-up giving you peace of mind in a power outage. The test/silence button both silences a non-threatening alarm or low battery warning and allows you to test the unit's functionality. The unit monitors and re-alarms if carbon monoxide levels persist sounding a loud 85-decibel horn. An audible and visual low battery signal alerts you to replace the battery and an indicator alerts you when a battery has been removed. An end-of-life alarm of three chirps alerts you to replace the unit. Two AA batteries are included. 7-year limited warranty. UL listed. --Bree Norlander

Bought this to replace same model older detector that lasted for years. Tested regularly and worked dependably. Fit exactly as previous detector did on same screws at same spot next to furnace.

It's a CO2 alarm, nothing flashy or fancy. Plugs into the wall, green light comes on and hopefully it's monitoring the air as it's supposed to. We have a propane gas stove and after having a burner repaired the repairman recommended an alarm. I thought my smoke alarms were dual alarms but turned out they are not so this alarm makes up for that. Got two of them and both seem to be working just fine. I hope I never have to find out for sure.

The 'hybrid' smoke/carbon monoxide detectors are always a compromise. This isn't. Why would you compromise on something that could potentially (silently) kill you while sleeping. Do you have gas burning appliances in your house? Then you need this. It's a dedicated (that's key) CO detector. It can plug straight into an outlet with the cord stashed inside, or you can pull the cord out and hang it on the wall. It DOES take batteries, but only two AA for backup in case of power outage. The digital display will tell you when the AA's need replacement (typically years without regular outages)There is a soft green LED in the front to let you know it's powered and working. Install it somewhere on the same floor as your appliances. (NOT in a furnace room or utility closet, but nearby) Keep in mind this is not a FOREVER purchase. After 5+ years they lose the ability to 'sniff' CO. That is a normal failsafe.Cheap insurance for you and your family. I hear once or twice a year about some poor family who gets wiped out by CO. Don't be them.

I own a condo townhouse and on the 24th of December 2022 the fire man came to my door after they were called to my area by another home owner whose carbon monoxide was going off. The outlet to my outside gas furnace pipe was blocked with snow. They cleared the snow away checked my monoxide fixtures and told me I need all new ones. I bought the package of 3 as the picture shows and plugged them in. They have a small light that shows they are on and working. I strongly suggest that anyone who does not have carbon monoxide alarms buy a package of these immediately. You can test them just by pressing a small button. Again, I repeat again if you do not have carbon monoxide alarms in your dwelling get these. They work great.

Purchased this unit for my 83-year old mother who lives alone and has lost her sense of smell. Installed it in her bedroom. A different unit is installed in the den off the kitchen. The gas company told her there was carbon monoxide build-up in the front portion of her ranch-style, single-level house. The CO2 source was her 50 year-old gas stove and gas water heater. The gas company tech advised that a hose on the water heater be shortened and that the back door be kept open to dissipate the gas. Purchasing this unit was a more reasonable way to solve the circulation problem since the temps were below freezing. It is very easy to install and set. Instructions are simple. Plug-in convenient. All features are simple enough for almost anyone to use. During my 3 week visit there were no false alarms or malfunctions. The unit works as described and gives me some peace of mind 600 miles away. Unfortunately, the only way to know if it functions as designed is when there is a problem, which is why it gets 4 stars for now. Keeping my fingers crossed. FYI: There was also a buildup of carbon residue around and under the stove top, which can be raised like the hood of a car. It looks like black soot and also gives off an odor. Gas company said this is not harmful but should be regularly removed. Check with your own company.
