So fortunately this has never gone off for real carbon monoxide. However I live in the state of Florida and we collectively call the Florida power grid "Old unreliable". So the other day the power failed briefly and came on pretty quickly but I was sleeping. What woke me up was the power coming back on restoring power to the two of these units I have in my home and both of them going off at the same time while I was dead asleep. Now bear in mind they did not detect carbon monoxide but when you plug them initially they briefly go off and do sort of a self-test. So imagine my surprise when I hear this go off it's screams like a demon which is good, I get out of bed and I see numbers on the screen counting down rapidly from 150 but my brain was still waking up so I didn't realize that I just heard it go off and saw numbers on the screen, only afterwards did I realize that my fan was off which indicates that there was a power loss.Honestly I can't tell you if it works actually or not and I hope I never find out. It's very easy to install just plug it in.

This detector is easy to just plug in anywhere you want to monitor carbon monoxide. I had mine plugged in near my garage and just having the door open with a car running made the alarm go off. It has an easy to read diaplay screen and I love that it also displays the temperture.

In my new home I just went through the process of completely ripping out the old natural gas lines and completely replacing them with new, larger, pipes to meet the capacity of all of the new gas appliances that I've installed. While I have extensive background in basic plumbing skills, I had never done natural gas lines so I wanted to make sure that I had several natural gas detectors located at various points in the house in the event that my work failed. Luckily it has not, but I did go through the process of testing this with an open line and it did in fact detect natural gas and alerted me to leave the premises. So knowing that these work as they are intended gives me real peace of mind. Obviously installation is cake, all you do is plug it in. It will take a minute or two to calibrate before it starts the regular monitoring process. It's also nice that it detects relative humidity and temperature. Just some added data, especially if you are wanting to keep an eye on the humidity in a place like a basement. Overall a very robust piece of basic equipment for the price point.

If you use gas to heat your cabin, home, or RV, you really should have one of these. Every year I read stories about people dying due to CO poisoning. I am thinking of getting a second one for use when I travel, after reading about 12 people dying in Europe dur to a faulty heater in a hotel. You just don't know what kind of mechanical thing will fail or when it will do so. For the size and cost of this thing, I say better safe than sorry.

My new house has a gas stove, and I plugged it in by it.Never heard a peep from the machine, but the easy to read display showed all was good.Turn on the stove top to make eggs one morning and turned around to talk to my wife.Next thing I know a SUPER LOUD alarm is coming out of no where.I had forgotten I had installed the unit (which is just plugging into the AC outlet), and my propane powered stove top had failed to lite.Needless to say, my wife and I were both impressed and glad to have this unit by our stove top.

I put this next to a brand name, much more expensive CO monitor and the readings were consistently consistent between the two. When a stove burner went out after a pot boiled over, the natural gas detector correctly alarmed. These work great and are cheap enough you can put them all over the house to make sure you're safe no matter where you are in the house when something gas burning breaks.
