This is our 3rd snake grabber, planned to keep it in the car since it folds...but it hasn't stayed there yet. I am a little concerned about the integrity of the wire long term because it folds..., but so far it works great. Caught its first rattle snake- a good sized Mohave, no less-about 3 ft long. Gripped the snake better than our other 2 snake grabbers, which is highly important, but didnt grip so tight or rough so as to injure the snake. Will update after catching a small baby snake or sidewinder as to wether it grips small ones as well, but im betting it will.

This seemed great but after roughly 2 months of use the spring inside the grabber broke so now the jaws won't open

This works great to safely grab the snake and keep it secure in order to relocate it. My husband works outdoors in Texas so it is a necessity.

I got this as a snake grabber tool. I had rattlesnake removal training a few years back, and I had not gotten around to getting a hook or grabber. I hadn’t seen any snakes either. However, there was a need for a snake grabber recently and had I been there, I would have been able to save that rattlesnake’s life. I went and got a snake grabber, so next time I will be prepared to relocate the snakes and save them. We have come to their land to live, and there is enough space for all of us. No more snakes will die if I’m around with this snake grabber.This is much like other grabbers. I have a few that I use around the house to reach high shelves and behind the couch or whatever. However, this is much longer, much sturdier, and the claw end is shaped differently to not leave a gap for anything to slither through. The spring is set to hold the claw in the open position, so it won’t squish a snake, yet it has a fairly strong grip which is enhanced by the rubbery, ridged surface of the inside of the claw. The spring trigger is easy to squeeze, although it is made for larger hands than I have. I can still get a good, solid grip on it. This is similar to the grabber I was trained to catch snakes with.I used this on my ball python. He wasn’t thrilled, but it worked. I also practiced with the challenge of catching my kitten’s tail. That was more challenging. He seemed to think it was fun, and the pinscher did not seem to hurt him. The stick has enough distance that even if I mess up or miss, I’m still fairly safe from a basic rattler. The grip is secure enough that I can safely pick it up and deposit it into a bucket without worrying about dropping it. It will hold an angry rattler.I do wish this could fold up smaller, although that would adversely affect the integrity of it, I suppose. It seems to only fold in half. That’s still three feet to carry around. However, at the same time, this has so many additional uses that carrying it around might still be worth it, even if you don’t encounter any snakes. It can easily be used to pick up items off the ground, reach high objects, grab items a few feet away when you’re feeling lazy, and it’s strong enough that it could be used to whack something if necessary.This is a useful tool, and I appreciate the design features that will make it safe and easy to use to relocate rattlesnakes. No more snake lives will be unnecessarily lost.
