This is one of those things that if you live in an area with snakes you should have one of these, but hope to never need it. This set is nice but not for anything big, at full extension it feels like it's going to break. At half length it feels more solid but then that's not a safe distance to use, so for small snakes, racers, corn snakes, garter snakes, anything small like that but anything bigger will likely pose issues.

This is a decent kit if you don't plan on catching anything too big like boas, pythons, or anacondas (unless they are babies). For most snakes in the US (except in FL) this would be a good kit for the hobbyist. I like that the poles extend pretty long and retract to a more reasonable size. The build quality does feel a little on the cheap side though. Anyway, I'm sure this would be a great birthday gift for any kids that are into wrangling snakes and other critters.

Sometimes there are small-medium size water snakes in my backyard, so wanted a tool to help coax them back to the lot behind my house. These tools seem adequate. I was able to pick up and capture one of my sneakers. The telescoping rods were easy to extend and twist to lock in place, and also collapse back for storage.I'm no snake expert, but this seems like a OK set of snake catching tools. If not placing the snake in the next at least I can prod it to leave from a safe distance.

Super well made net and grab pole both with telescoping poles. Ligbt weight and easy to use. I havent had to use them yet but the concept is easy enough anf should make capturing snakes and relocating them much simpler than the hands on method i was using.

A sturdy and well made net and hook to capture snakes. The hook is 28" long, which may be a bit close for larger snakes. But the hook and the net are both durable and should last.

This snake catcher net is only going to be used for small snakes that hang out around our swimming pool. I don't trust it for any of the bigger, poisonous snakes. It might work for someone who knows their snakes and catches them quite frequently. I'm not that person. I will only use this net for small snakes that I have caught before. I'm giving this 3 stars since the net will work for small snakes. I don't want to chance it for any bigger ones.

I didn't get this to avoid accidentally biting my hands with snakes (although the listing promises that it will do this ... personally, it's always been the snakes doing the biting). I got it for inconvenient snakes -- harmless snakes that are in places where they can easily escape if I approach too closely. If I'm going to mess with a venomous snake, I'll use a heavy-duty snake hook that doesn't have a 3-pound weight limit. But a water snake that just has to flip its body and be off the dam and away? That's what this is perfect for.Despite what the description says, I wouldn't recommend this for catching a cobra. And ball pythons? Who even needs to do that? By the way, the recommended way to catch a ball python is to slide your hand under it and lift. (never reach down toward a snake -- that makes them afraid you're a predator, and they'll bite defensively) But at least in the US, where this branch of Amazon sells, you'll most likely just tell the fellow in the pet store that you want the one on the left, near the back. But it is quite suitable for catching small, fast snakes. Garter and ribbon snakes are notorious for being somewhere else by the time you get to where they used to be. Ribbon snakes in particular bask in places where they have a water escape route -- branches over water are common, so they can head for the land or water side depending on the type of predator that's attacking them (this includes us). And water snakes, though they're harmless, do have sharp teeth. Corn and rat snakes frequently climb trees, and they're FAST. Racers are fast *and* bitey. This is not a really rigid system. Believe their 3-pound weight limit. But for small, fast, inconvenient snakes, it's quite usable. The drawstring on the bag should be tightened and loosened multiple times to keep it from sticking, by the way; running a bit of soap over it wouldn't hurt.Recommended within its limits.
