Very lightweight but sturdy and durable. Extremely useful for more than just snake. Carry it with you on the lawnmower to pickup trash or reach items up high. Sturdy enough to catch chickens with.

I wanted one as long as possible to keep my distance but that makes it very difficult to hold with one hand while holding the bag open with the other hand. My wife had to help me. If it were about a foot shorter I think it would be easier. I also wish the bag opening was big enough to stretch over a 5 gallon bucket which would also make it easier. I have already used it to re-home three rattlesnakes.

I pulled it out of the box partially unwrapped it still with the tags on in the plastic sleeve over the shaft and went on patrol. The rat snake was back in my chicken coop and actually had an egg in his mouth when I walked in. Grabbed him around the neck/back of the head just as YouTube taught me squeeze tightly And removed him from the area. This was an excellent tool for the job and in one use has already paid for itself lol. I sure am glad I don’t have to keep using a rake. Because that required me to pull the snake towards me to control it. Which meant that he could turn in strike, and he was already closer than he started off. The snake stick, maintains the necessary distance and keeps dealing with spring snakes a beyond arms’ length task.

This snake catcher is sturdy & user friendly. Good quality for a good price. Have multiple strategically placed around our property buildings. Very effective tool for quick and safe collection of snakes. The bag works well for collection of the snakes but difficult to manipulate snake into bag if by yourself. I recommend having a second person hold the bag for person handling the snake or keep a 50 gal drum with some sort of cover handy for depositing snakes until you can properly dispose or relocate per your preference.

I like how it's put together. Substantial materials. The jaw is connected to the handle by a rod positioned inside the tube, not a cable on the outside that can get entangled in the weeds. They used substantial hardware... rivets... and self-locking nuts for the bolts. I like the length... five feet. So far I've only used it to pluck a sock from behind the dryer... but I'm a camper. It's now part of my camping gear. Also... every spring... the snakes come out of their winter dens right here in my neighborhood... and freak people out. They are almost all King Snakes... black King Snakes... hunting for a first meal. People tend to want to kill them. I will capture and release... away from the houses. Snakes have their place in the ecosystem... but not in our houses, garages... under foot.

I really like the length of the pole. I'm pretty tall, and the taller you are the shorter the distance between you and the snake gets when using a snake grabber. It is very easy to control, even with just one hand. The handle is extremely comfortable. My only qualm is that you cannot lock it at any position, just fully closed. I was hoping to be able to grab a snake and lock the grip, just encase of accidental release. Overall, I am pleased with it and would buy it again. If I could give it 4.5 stars I would because that is a more accurate rating.
