So it's been several weeks since I did all the pool work needed to get this set up.Everything I've seen online says this is on the top of the lists for portable pool timers. Leslie's pool supply sells them as well. So I took all that into consideration when ordering.Instructions were easy for me to understand. It has several on/off settings and is very customizable. I have it set to turn my pump on/off twice a day. From 7-10am, then from 4:30-10pm. The latter time I use to run my salt generator, which has its own built in timer. This timer has manual on/off as well, and does not affect the programs. Switch to manual on mode when it's turned off to run your pump or whatever, then switch it back to Auto, and it will resume it's programming. There's a lot of features that I'm pleased with basically. There are 2 outlets on the bottom, but they are not covered like the face of it is, which exposes the plugs on your equipment. I covered the timer with a ziplock bag so water could run down past the plugs where they are inserted when it rains. The plug on the timer itself is VERY short. Maybe 2 feet.I run a 2 speed, 2HP pump. I only use high speed when vacuuming my pool, so I'm sure on low, the full 2 horses isn't being used. Either way, with this timer said to be rated at 3/4HP, i'm having zero issues. No over heating or anything. I do only use it during the cooler times of the day, and it is still early in the summer afterall. I do run my pump continuously on the weekends to use the *boost* on my salt generator for weekly shocking. Still no overheating issues. And yes, the timer is even set for that.So overall, it's a good timer. We'll see as the summer progresses. I did purchase the service warranty, just in case.

I use this as a block heater for my truck, which consumes roughly 800-900w. This timer easily supports that.Programming and set up is easy. Really easy. The large display makes it easy for even the most technophobic people. This is an absolute must for the penny pincher as well, especially in Canadian winters. I use this after -10 to plug my vehicle in for 90 minutes before I need it for technical training or work. Plugging it in for 90 minutes as opposed to 8-9 hours overnight is definitely a cost saving measure. This unit will pay for itself in one winter. My cost for power is 5.2c/kWh. Ignoring distribution costs, that means my truck consumes 13 cents of power a day. If I plug it in over night for the 8-9 hours, it will consume 46.8 cents a night, for a difference of roughly 33.8 cents a day. That equals around $9 a month savings, or more. There's only one thing to be concerned about, and that is the units ability to hold time. After about a month of the crappiest weather (-40C for almost a week) the unit had fallen behind 8 minutes. This is something you should be aware of if the timing is very important. Also, I have no real way of mounting it to my house and the outlets face up because of it. That's not the units fault, but I wish it was designed a little better.

Worked very well for what I wanted it for, which was to set up an automatic drip line for my deck plants and hanging baskets (using a small electric pump, a big bucket and some tubing & drip heads). Depending on the weather (which in my location can be extremely variable) I wanted to be able to change it for more/less daily intervals, as well as longer/shorter intervals, etc. and to repeat on set days. This was easy enough to do with the way the internal programming options are set up, and it held up well the entire summer/fall season despite frequent tweaks I made (no buttons or display dying prematurely or anything like that). I was also able to simply turn it off for however long I wanted without it cancelling everything, and then switch it back on automatic later to resume my program. This was great for quick adjusting to rainy days in between heat spells. My only concerns/complaints are 1) that it wasn't particularly easy to place--my deck plug-in is low on the house wall, driving a nail into the siding was not an option (I rent), and with the unit cord coming from below it either had to hang upside-down (bringing it almost on top of the deck floor) or I had to make-shift a place to hang it & 2) I'm not sure I would have wanted it against house siding anyway because for some reason a spot on the upper back of the unit gets REALLY HOT, hot enough that I was concerned it might cause a fire! I ended up using a small piece of shelving from a recently discarded desk that I hammered a couple of nails into, propped against the house next to the electrical plug in, and hung the unit up on that slightly angled so that the "hot spot" did not actually touch anything. Worked well enough, although wasn't going to win any awards for design, heh. Anyway, once I solved that bit of annoyance, all was groovy and I had no glitches or issues over the months I used it. It still looks to be in great condition, so weathered well also. Am happy with my purchase and will undoubtedly use again next year.

Originally purchased in October. Seemed perfect. Stopped working in December. Restarted it, and it worked for a few more days, then seemingly dead. Tried again to charge and set it this week. No go. Threw it in trash. Started researching other outdoor digital timers that are reasonably priced. None had the features of this one that I need. While reading about a different timer, their info said "any problems, hit the reset button". AHA!!!!! Even though there is a reset button on this unit, it is only mentioned in the instructions for initial setting. No troubleshooting section in instructions. I should have thought about it, but my brain is already overloaded with other stuff. Retrieved from clean trash (thank goodness.. still empty except for the timer). Charged it again (5-10 min), hit reset button. Reprogrammed everything... BTW, programming is pretty easy. The unit is working again....for the past few hours. If it stays on track, I may upgrade my rating. If it fails again.....downgrade.UPDATE: One week later, and still working perfectly. Hoping this continues. Will update if not. One more star.......UPDATE: 2 months later and still ticking along merrily.Update: 5 months later... still chugging along...Still works great a year later. Back to 5 stars.August 2016, almost 3 years later: Unit started acting funny.. it got wet while the house was being prepped for painting with power-washing (wish I or the painters had thought to move it) and it started shorting out the socket it was plugged in. (This same socket has had other problems with power tools plugged into it)... so... I stopped using it, fired up the new one I was holding in reserve, and so far so good. Between the wonky socket and the pressure washing, I am not too upset the first unit finally failed. Frankly, I may try it in another socket to check and see if it works.
