After using this for over a year, I have no rips or retraction issues. I wear this for over 40 hours a week and sling my badge multiple times a day to open locks with no problems. The clip is still strong, the plastic ID holder is still uniform, and the retraction system is still working perfectly.

I really wasn't expecting anything as nice as this at all! They are nice and solid, feel very well put together, and the retracting cord & the mechanism are super strong. I absolutely love that it has both a carabiner-type clip and a regular clip on the back for like a shirt pocket or lapel. Not to mention, the locking pouch for the actual badge itself completely seals and that whole entire part is water proof - which is GREAT because I bought these for my friends and I to put our (cardboard) chairlift passes in it.The only minor concern is that the retracting mechanism is so strong, that if you let it whip back into place after pulling it out, it will split the plastic piece apart at the button where it attaches to the badge holder. Not a big enough deal to me to subtract a star, but I will probably use the key ring part on the badge holder just in case. Or, you know, don't let it whip violently back into place in the first place lol.

I purchased these badge holders/retractable clips over a year ago, 15 months ago to be exact. I am a custodian in a college dorm with many locked doors and security key box that require key card swiping for entry. I go in and out of these doors over and over. The first retractable clip just broke today and it was actually the piece that attaches to the badge holder. The rest of the clip works fine but because I'm not able to trust the attachment to the id/key card that has access to every door, I need to replace. I replaced the first clear plastic badge holder a while ago with the second one but it lasted at least 6 months in very wet conditions (cleaning showers) with chemicals thrown in the mix. I pull on and retract the id/key card for entry numerous times all day long, it gets caught on furniture, counters, equipment, etc. and snaps back and has lasted this long. The thing has been practically indestructible for what I would consider a reasonable time for the price and the abuse it's been subjected to. Gladly buying again.

Retractable bus lanyard for your children? Yes. My two boys ride the bus occasionally and this lanyard attaches to their backpack easily. I don’t have to worry about their badge falling off because the lanyard comes with two connection options, a ring or a clip. They aren’t too big, but are big enough to fit badges of different sizes and thickness. The seal makes the lanyard pouch waterproof, so no water will penetrate the holder. The string seems to be durable and we haven’t had any issues with it fraying when the kids play with it. Plastic is thicker, but it still allows the badge to be scanned. Overall the design is compact and very functional. No more badges falling, no more replacement costs.

I bought this for my school ID, and it held up for quite a few months before eventually starting to tear along the sides. However, I was really pleased with the quality of the badge holder, especially for the price point. I was worried that the lanyard’s extension wouldn’t be long enough, but the 2 ft cord is more than enough for most situations I'm in. In addition, I really liked how the holder has two attachment options, one to clip onto a belt loop and one to clip onto the top of one’s pants. Having both options helps me to always keep this on me, as I never run into the issue of the clip falling off or me not having a place to put it on my pants. The key ring also helps me always have a place to put my keys and help me never lock myself out of my house. Despite the issue of the plastic tearing within a few months, I would definitely recommend this product, especially at its phenomenal price.(Key in photo not included)
