I see some people responding on the DAC being good, or not doing anything, being connected with digital out (coax/optical), note that the Wiim DAC then doesn't do anything (bypass), since you're not converting to an analog signa (i.e. RCA).I've got RCA out connected to my active elipson prestige facet 6b desktop speakers with Indiana Line Basso 922 sub. They sounded good, but never really was able to get It right, especially with the crossover with the sub, the built in low-pass filter really isn't tuned well. Wiim by default already had a small improvement vs my Mac Studio, but after running Room correction, wow! Huge difference. It comes with a lot of options for many different situations to integrate and improve your setup.Actually ordered the Ultra now to see what that improves, since It also comes with a sub out, maybe that makes It even better. But this is an excellent multi-functional, full-featured DAC + Streamer in a market where more expensive brands can't even deliver these things.

I am by no means a hardcore audiophile, but I do recognize good quality audio. This WiiM pro plus is a great unit for HiRes audio for people that don't want to spend thousands of dollars. I needed a unit to convert my tv signal from digital to analog since my older budget DAC died and didn't want to buy a whole new receiver. I found this all in one audio streamer and paired it to my Yamaha R-S202 which output to a 2.1 Klipsch RP-160M speaker set up. This is my little budget gear for my living room and the audio quality it brought over regular Bluetooth connection straight to the R-S202 is remarkable good. I stream Tidal through WiiM and I gotta say the app is a beauty and easy to use.I also output my movies and games audio through this thing and it's awesome. This would be a great unit as well for a PC setup.Apparently the Pro plus has a better DAC than the regular pro. But even without testing the Pro, I'd say if you wanna save some money, just go for the regular pro. You can't go wrong with either. Or spend more and get the Ultra unit with the little screen.

Excelente dispositivo para elevar la experiencia de la música. El sonido es muy nítido y con potencia, no se distorsiona. Muy fácil de instalar y configurar. Se pueden emparejar varios dispositivos para tocar la misma canción.

In terms of a network streamer I found this product to satisfy a really unique challenge where so many other products fall short. You get a tremendous amount of flexibility for streaming, but the key features I was looking for in one box that the Wiim Pro satisfies are:- Chromecast built-in (great for our Google Home setup and sources like YouTube Music and SoundCloud)- Tidal Connect (my preferred streaming service for lossless music)- Spotify Connect (tons of my friends and family use this, when they come over they can use the system extremely easily)- Roon Ready (I use this for my local CD collection, usually these endpoints cost a lot more)I tried one of these out at full price for $149 and believe its a great value, and on prime day decided to buy two more for other zones in the house. I plan to eventually have replaced my aging chromecast audio devices with these. If you prefer to stay within your favorite streaming apps for music playback experience, this is likely the most well rounded and feature-complete device for the money.Sound Quality:Line out: this blows the chromecast audio away, much better detail retrieval from the onboard DACOptical/SPDIF: I've tried this with 3 different DACs of distinctly different price points and the Wiim Pro performed perfectly. Once I adjusted the optical settings to output at the appropriate sample rate, I was able to easily stream Tidal masters and higher resolution files from HDTracks with a lossless signal path to my DACs. This is a really straightforward upgrade path for those with out a dedicated DAC or to integrate into an existing HiFi system. At the time of this review I cannot comment on the multi-room features, but will provide an edit once I get time to set this up with the additional units I purchased.

**UPDATESo, one super cool feature that the manufacturer added to the Wiim is Room Correction. My Wiim had been boxed up for a few months during & after a move. First, I want to note that it was really easy to reconfigure it for my new home wireless network via the Wiim phone app WITHOUT having to RESET the Wiim itself. I just had to hold the 'play' button on the Wiim until it blinked while I was holding my phone nearby and then I was able to update the Wiim's wireless network info to get it back online.Room correction worked as expected, which is to say the same way it works on other home AV receivers I've owned/used. This is a really cool feature to be added to the Wiim for free as part of a free firmware update. Thank you, Wiim!I should also note that in the 14 months I've owned my Wiim, minus the 4 months it was stashed in a moving box, it's worked fantastically. I mostly use it to stream music via Airplay to a 22 year old Sony AV 5.1 receiver powering a small bookshelf speaker/subwoofer setup. I do occasionally use the built in media player and it works well too - no problems. Wiim updates apply seamlessly, and it's been 100% reliable. Very happy with this purchase and would recommend to anyone thinking about getting one.ORIGINAL REVIEWGot this to replace a Bluetooth receiver that I had plugged into my 20+ year old Sony STR-DE845 AV receiver. The BT receiver works great, but it has a couple limitations:1 - One is that it when it's powered up, it automatically pairs with whichever device it was last paired with. Because I normally stream to it using an iPad, I can only stream using my iPhone if I go to the iPad and unpair it from the BT receiver, and then I have to the same thing with the phone when I want to use the iPad to stream again. I've been living with this for 4 years, so it's not unworkable, but that I have other streaming targets at home that don't require this has raised the bar a bit as far as my expectations go.2 - The BT receiver supports AptX and LDAC over Bluetooth, but since I am only streaming from Apple wireless devices I can only do AAC over Bluetooth since Apple doesn't support AptX or LDAC (and probably never will). The quality of AAC over Bluetooth is pretty good, but it's not CD-level quality playback which is what you get with a WiFi streaming protocol like Apple Airplay. The ability to play CD quality music streams from my iPad or my iPhone was the main reason for my purchase, and the WiiM Pro does this perfectly as an Airplay 2 receiver. Also, re: Airplay I figure that the protocol spec & implementation for Airplay isn't likely to change (there may be enhancements, but the existing spec should remain the same), so Airplay should always be available for streaming music to the Sony receiver. And that brings me to another great feature of the WiiM Pro, which is its ability to act as a standalone network streamer with native support for several streaming music services including Amazon Music, which is what I use. Initially, I thought I might find the WiiM's software UI (as installed on my iPhone & iPad) to be less than polished, but so far the software seems to work well. The biggest advantage to using the native streaming apps on the WiiM is that the stream quality can be much higher than 'just' CD quality that Airplay 2 supports (16-bit/44.1kHz - Amazon Music HD supports up to 24-bit/96kHz for some tracks, IIRC).The WiiM Pro app seems to work fine for streaming Amazon Music, and the menu looks the same as the one I use for streaming Amazon Music to to some modern Yamaha AV receivers MusicMatch app.Overall, this seems like a good device. The only open question is whether and how well WiiM will support it with necessary fixes/updates when needed!
