Plug and play ice maker in my older Kenmore refrigerator/freezer. Very easy to install. Works better than the old one.

Great price and good quality. Item will have some production grease on it. No big deal. Clean it up a little with a paper towel and run it for a while, then dump that ice. Be aware that the arm that turns it on and off may not appear to go fully down. You might think that it will never shut off. When you install it and plug in the wiring harness, it will lower the arm all the way down. Don’t try to force it or bend the arm. It’s the way that it’s supposed to be although it may not appear that way at first.

You need to find a video to help remove the bottom drawer and racks. After that it's a quick and easy replacement with just 3 screws and a wiring plug. Plenty of ice next day. Good price.

Good quality product. Works perfectly. Would have been easy to install (watch a Youtube video to remove freezed door) except that I threw out the old mounting screws with the old unit and then found out that new screws are not included 🫤They are a specialty screw, both hard to find and expensive online. I ended up removing another screw from the freezer, hoping it would be the same 🤞🏼 and taking it to a local hardware store to get a close enough match.

I ordered a Whirlpool Ice Make P/N W10884390 and on the outside shipping container it contained this part number however, the ID label on the part in the box was P/N W10793297. Thinking that they were interchangeable I installed the part and it stopped making ice within a week. I returned P/N W10793297 and requested that P/N W10884390, without a substitute, be provided. I received another box that contained the incorrect part and contacted Whirlpool Parts customer service. Whirlpool verified that P/N W10884390 and P/N W10793297 are not compatible nor interchangeable. I'm in the process of returning my second non-working ice maker and I'm sure that I'll shortly receive another box with the incorrect part inside. Whirlpool engineering has verified that there is no substitute for Ice Maker P/N W10884390. Both the outside shipping container and the ID label on the part inside the box must indicate Ice Maker P/N 10884390.

Feb 2022 Update - all still good, no change in the 5 stars, but 2 things. In the last ~week, the thing started spitting out ice without stopping. In investigating it looks like the metal bar that is supposed to sense the ice level had been slid out on the side closest to the door (the side you can't easily see). Used a mirror to put that back in. The easy test as to whether this is potentially a problem is to push the metal leveler-arm "up" and it should click to the off position. If it doesn't then use a mirror to see if maybe you have the same problem.FYI, for the refrigerator KBFS25ECMS00 the original ice maker was W10469286.I also found online a pretty reliable sounding source that suggested if you have problems with an ice maker after ~ 5yrs then it's probably the cheapest approach to just replace it!End Feb 2022 UpdateThis worked well in my Kitchenaid kbfs25ecms00. Not a difficult repair, but nor was it as easy as it appears. Learned a few things I thought I'd share. There were a few videos that were helpful in getting the shelves out as well as removing the icemaker. We did not remove the shelves, as it always seemed like it was more work than necessary (though one video seemed to suggest it was easy). On my model, to get the top shelf out you needed to remove a few extra screws, pop up some clips, carefully disassemble . .. . etc., so decided to just try without. It was doable, but definitely harder with the top shelf in. If I were doing it again, I'd probably pull the top shelf. Replacement might be possible without removing the lower shelf at all, but the door was open for a bit so be cautious.I lucked into this, but strongly suggest unclipping the connector first, and (re)connecting it back up last. Otherwise, there could be a bit of a leak of water. Almost as soon I'd connected the new one up the water ran to fill it, so I was quite happy it was already fully installed! Also realized that while jostling the broken unit I could've closed the broken connection and water would've flowed then as well.To remove the old unit there are 3 screws that have ¼" hex heads, so a nut driver of that size works well. The bottom and back screws are readily accessible, but the top-forward one (closest to the opening) was hard to see and therefore hard to get to. It was a bit of hunt and peck. On install, we left the top two screws loosely in place, and that made it a bit easier. Turns out if you leave them a bit loosely installed then you can slide the icemaker down onto them before tightening. But, make sure the water hose is pointed to the right place on the unit (which was also easy to do).I got this unit anticipating the icemaker was the problem, but was not positive that that was the case. I only knew that we weren't getting ice cubes, and a bad icemaker seemed a common cause. Thought it easier to have this as a replacement unit and return it if not needed rather than to empty the freezer and disassemble the shelves twice. Before installing the new icemaker I did open the old one to see if it was likely the problem (vice a valve or other part). As with other folks, when opened the unit I found the heating element (that releases the cubes from the tray) terminal was corroded through. This turned out to be a great move this time, and I'd probably risk it again. As mentioned above, the icemaker filled with water immediately upon hooking up the connector, and then dropped the first set of ice ~ 1 to 2 hrs later. Been slowly filling the tray ever since.
