This was great to connect our gas generator to our house! As the other comments suggested, the cut-outs aren't really cut-outs, so you'll have to cut it on your own. Other than that, I like that it has an exterior light to let you know when it's on/off. The cord is thick/sturdy/strong and weatherproof for a snowy storm. Would recommend this product!

I was surprised at how well made this is. Heavy gauge metal, clever engineering. Make sure you have the right pinout for this, but once you’ve done that, I highly recommend.

I'm a contractor. I was hired to connect this box to a 50 amp disconnect box and upgrade the wiring so that the customer could feed power from a generator into their house using a 50 amp generator.Pros- The price of the cord and the box are outstanding.- Quality of cord is solid.- SS2 input connector on box is solid.- Wire connectors on the back of the SS2 felt solid. I used Southwire 6/3 wire which is substantial in size. The connectors held nicely.Deltas- There is no knock out at the top of the box. Not a big deal but if you care, then you'll care.- The knock outs on the box are TERRIBLE. See photos. I pounded the one on the left with a punch and bent the heck out of the box. I then pushed a 2x4 into the box along with a shim in order to give the box support but still couldn't punch out the hole. I ended up having to drill about 6 relief holes along the diameter of the punch line and then use a jig saw with a metal blade to create the hole. My goal was to install a 2" steel nipple into the box so that the other side of the nipple would enter the existing disconnect box. Cost me 1.5 hours of messing with this in order to get it done. Didn't have my dremel tool which would have made this easier. To the manufacturer: C'MON, MAN. Fix this so installers don't have to suffer.Everything else worked fine.

Boitier de qualité. Le seul problème, j'ai dû le percer car le boitier n'avait pas de trou pour passer le filage. Sinon, je suis très satisfait.

Installed for a generator with 50A breaker in panel. Went pretty well, using 3/4" liquid-tight flex conduit (seal-tite) and box connectors. To facilitate the limited space behind the plug for 6 ga terminations, I recommend (if possible) using the bottom "knockout" location. If running leads through a flexible conduit, it is pretty easy to slide the plug/face assembly downward and secure with the supplied screw. It may be necessary to bend the wires at almost 90 downward, but if flex con is attached at bottom, the wires should move downward through the conduit while re-attaching the plug/face of the box pretty easily, BEFORE making connections on load side/panel. I can see how running side-mounted connectors would present a challenge, and I elected to use the bottom option for this reason. Do not attempt to connect at top. Plus, using the bottom of the box is the least prone to water entry, esp. since it is recessed. Hope this helps some. For the "knockouts", this is an outdoor receptacle. I actually appreciate the fact that these are properly sealed (not knockouts at all). Use a step drill or a proper knockout tool, and you will have good results. Boxes rated for INDOOR use have the knockouts to which some are referring (like the indoor panel to which this was connected).I did some research regarding cabling vs. liquid-tight, and liquid-tight with individual 6 ga conductors, for my needs, worked well. UF cable with 6 ga will not work with this box (I checked). Also, no ROMAX (again, only for indoor use). USE DUE DILIGENCE, MEASURE TWICE, CUT ONCE.After finishing this project, and associated panel connections, I tested, and it works well with the generator. Not sure why the lid has a light; gimmick, I guess.GUYS--PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH before attempting a project such as this.AND GET ONE OF THESE! please!
