This is a great product. For years are porch lights have hung wonky on the house. That’s the way the builder installed them. We needed new fixtures and we decided it was time to change the way the lights were mounted. I knew Amazon would have the answer. Easy to install and looks so much better

We have an older house, built in 1969. We had no electrical boxes for the new lights we wanted to hang, just a hole through siding with electrical wires coming through. This mounting block was key to being able to install the new lights without much of a hassle. There are two things to be aware of:1. The mounting block fits perfectly on 4-inch siding, but if your house is like ours, without an electrical box to anchor the light, the weight of your light may not allow it to be flush against the siding on the top part of the plate because the weight of your light will pull the plate slightly from the siding. A light bead of silicone sealant across the top, on the sides, and on the underside where the siding overlaps will be good. Also be prepared to place a light bead of silicone along the top of the light’s mounting plate, where it touches the mounting block, as it may do the same.2. Our lights came with a standard circular mounting ring to screw into the electrical box (or the mounting block). When I screwed it onto the mounting block, it wasn’t rock steady until I had the screws tightened down—don’t panic. When I screwed the light onto the long mounting screws protruding from the plate, the light was stable and solid. The light fit well into the block. Look for any possible gaps at the top where the light meets the mounting block and use a light bead of silicone to protect water from getting in.One final thing to be aware of: the wire retention plug that snaps into the center of the block may not remain intact when working with thick wires, especially with dual lighting situations like ours, where there is an extra ‘traveler’ wire on one light. It did not hinder the installation for us.

Quality materials. Looks good. Shallow junction box was sufficient to accommodate wires and wire nuts.

Purchased this item to mount my brand new exterior lights. Very very easy to install. Fits perfectly on my siding and looks fantastic. Enhanced the appearance of my new lights and made the installation of the lights easier. Very reasonable priced for a well made and good looking item. Super fast delivery via Amazon. I can easily recommend this item.

The old porch lights were cut into the vinyl siding. The replacement lights were smaller, and left an ugly gap visible in the siding. This mounting block installed easily over the siding, completely covered the gap, and provided a clean looking result. I would recommend it...
