This is a really easy to put together aerator and works effectively. I put it together in about 10 minutes or so, and used it on our lawn after mowing. I did not attach the middle nail spikes, and it worked just fine without them. I took off a star because you need to weigh enough to shove the aerator into the ground and I didn't weigh enough (I'm 117 lbs) so I had to have my partner aerate the lawn for me. Otherwise, it's a very easy to use tool that is simple in design and I'm very happy with it! The box also came with all the tools you need to put this together, along with gloves and a poker, but it did not come with instructions. It is intuitive enough to know where everything goes though, and I am one that is not very good with putting things together and was able to just fine. Overall a great aerator!

This is heavy duty and seems like it should last a long time. You do have to assemble this including screwing on all the spikes so it does take a few minutes to put together. Comes with tools to do it also includes a pair of garden gloves and a tool to push dirt out of the coring spots if you need to. Hoping thos will help my grass to grow since I have big dogs who pack the dirt down pretty good. If you have to do a big yard might want to get a rolling pull behind style. Unless you really want a workout. Not too heavy to move around. Good value.

I'm a person who doesn't mind doing a little assembly when it comes to items, so if you absolutely hate that, you may be a little annoyed at how this comes. It came with no instructions, but pretty simple to figure out once opened. The aerator comes in 4 pieces so you just alternate the black and yellow bars and it connects with some good Allen wrench style bolts. All the hardware is included to assemble. Assembly took about 15 minutes. Bolting all the spikes on was the tedious thing in my opinion. Pretty sure this will last for years to come and the fact that it does break down into pieces again if you want is nice for storage. Came with some small gloves that are more my wife's size and a soil poke out tool for the outer spikes.

Note that the item I'm reviewing is the original version of this product, not the upgraded one. This review is for 2-in-1 Lawn Aerator, Manual Yard Plug Aerator with 16 Iron Spikes and 8 Coring Tines, Grass Aerator Coring Garden Tool for Aerating Yard, Lawn Health Grass Care.I have a tiny yard, so investing in a large rolling aerator doesn't make much sense. Furthermore, multiple pets mean targeted areas in the yard often need extra care. We've been using some aerator shoes, but they don't fit my small feet well, so I got this product to replace those.Assembly is required and takes long enough that fatigue may become an issue for people with fine motor challenges. It doesn't take any particular strength, just fine motor endurance. There are no instructions, but assembly is pretty intuitive.Once assembled, the product is relatively easy to use, more so for large people whose weight will drive the spikes down or people with particularly strong legs and back. Additionally, people in areas with soft soil will find it easier to use than those who live in areas dominated by clay. It's not that the product isn't well made, but small people who live in areas with a lot of clay just need to keep in mind that they'll have to put in some work. The product comes with a couple of extra tools to make the work easier - a nice set of gloves for gripping the aerator and a tool for removing clods from the coring tines. If I had one complaint, it would be that I wish the "platform" piece were larger on the sides. Small people who need to put their entire weight into it would have an easier time of it if the sides extended further out, similar to a pogo stick, so they could jump on it.

Great solid tool to aerate your lawn with! Over the winter, and with the dogs running around the yard, my lawn was starting to get patchy due to compacted dirt. I knew I needed to aerate the lawn to get nutrients and oxygen back into the soil so I picked up this hand aerating tool. The set up is super easy, and it came with an extra set of screws just in case. Each tine has to be screwed into place using a nut, and it comes with a rod to clear the core holes after use, as well as a decent pair of rubber gardening gloves.I'm not a heavy person (145lb) so stepping on the tool didn't work great to get it into the dirt unless I stood on it and wiggled around. Instead, I just picked it up and slammed it into the grass, making sure not to put it through my foot, and the tines and coring tubes were sharp enough to drive right into the grass. It isn't exactly an easy process, but it's definitely doable if you're not afraid of a little sweat and hard work. Now that it's getting warmer, I'll see how much this affects the lawn, but I'm hopeful that it'll do the trick to get my lawn looking nice and lush again.

Well made and everything is metal. This should last a long time. You have to put them together, which is not difficult. One thing I didn't realize was that you have to screw the 16 iron spikes together. It's basically long nail that is placed with a nut. It comes will all the necessary equipment (including gloves) making the assembly easy. It just takes time to put the 16 spikes together. Take your time.8 Coring Tines are permanent or cannot be removed. As it's used, ground cores will just pop out. There is a tool to empty out last soil. If you are just looking to spike the ground without coring, this is not it. Packaging comes with a foam block that rests the head (without spike). You could gently press down on it with the assembled one to have the spike poke through it and use that as a stand when not in use.It works as advertised and nothing to complaint about it. I do with coring tine could be removed but this was known prior to purchase. Overall this should last long time and happy to be able to do this. Hopefully it will turn my lawn healthier. Well recommended.
