Maybe I'm just stupid. I watched the video of how to thread the straps at least 10 times. Never could get them through right. Written instructions might have been helpful. Besides, with the ground wet and soft, there would be no way I could get the spikes out of the ground. The straps would have come undone.I returned them to get a rolling aerator.

These are a perfect replacement for my manual aerators. As you can see in the pic they come with a small wrench for installing, and it gets the job done but you're better off using a real wrench. Length is 2.25".

Good quality spikes. They are not prone to rust. Since they are larger in diameter, it creates bigger hole on the ground so that gives the soil to breathe better and the results would be green grass.

These spikes may be longer than the ones that came with my shoes, but they are definitely lower quality. When nuts are 10 mm, much smaller than the 7/16 that came with my shoes. They also are not self-locking nuts like the ones that came with my shoes. So unless you keep checking to make sure they haven't come loose you could end up losing the nuts and having loose spikes. They also have different threads than the original spikes so I can't use the self locking nuts that came with those spikes. We'll see how they hold up, but at this point I'm not impressed.I hope this helps. Thanks for reading and liking.

I got this 20-replacement aerator spike set for my rolling aerator. They work well. The length is a good one for aerating lawns. My lawn soil is clay and rocks except for the sod that was laid right over it. From time to time, I'll aerate and then throw fertilizer and overseed with a little bit of grass seed. I like the 2in length to get past the grass and get to the clay. The aerating holes and the extra organic matter should help change and lighten the clay soil over time.

These Shoe accessories are a great idea to walk around your lawn to help aerate it. They don’t stay on as great as I would like, but they get the job done.

These shoes arrived sealed in a thin box, shaking and rattling like it was a box of broken glass. No glass, but it was a box of spikes, nuts and random, useless metal tips that were not secured by any means. I do not understand why I received a large amount of these little metal tips as the spikes do not seem set up for replacement tips. I was also very upset to realize that I received enough spikes to fill each shoe, but not enough nuts to secure them all. The last disappointment is that there were no instructions on how to install the straps and the limited pictures available online were not very helpful. You will see pictured how I ended up doing the straps, which worked successfully for me (although I definitely rolled my ankle several times when I needed to walk across the driveway or sidewalk). That said, after the frustrations of unboxing and getting these set up, they were very easy to use and did a great job across my entire yard. I had a small amount of leaves stuck in the spikes at the end of the process, but they were easy enough to remove.

With our heavy clay soil, I have to be very specific about when I use these aerator shoes. With no rain, the ground is too hard. After a rain, the ground is too moist and I end up growing taller with each step as the clumps of dirt build up between the spikes. But I've had a decent amount of success, and if you're using them where there is some vegetation holding the dirt down, they work great. Unfortunately, most of where I need to aerate is in compacted soil where nothing wants to grow.I like to use these along our pool slab, where concrete chunks buried in the dirt damage or get stuck in our core aerator tools. The shoes work best with something like hiking boots. The spikes are very sharp, so don't walk on anything you care about with them. I also only installed 10 of the 13 spikes per shoe (there are 3 middle ones I left out to help the clumps of dirt not stick). Once you get the velcro straps cinched up (which is always a bit of a struggle), the motion of walking is quite natural. I don't feel unstable at all, and you don't really need to "stomp." The spikes are just the right length. The velcro straps feel pretty cheap, and I suspect that they will be the first thing to go. I'm not too concerned, because I have a bucket of shoelaces that would work just fine as replacements. The straps are a little tricky to install, but just refer to the pictures in the product listing and observe the correct lengths. There are no instructions included, so just a heads up on that.
