Well priced, good design, was sturdy, easy to use and put together. If you have a harder lawn this will not work tho. My yard is hard and I couldn’t penetrate the ground with it. Soft lawn I can see those thing being nice.

Works very well for my smaller yard which only took me a few hours to complete. Much less expensive and less hassle than renting a unit. I was also impressed that the package came with a spare bolt and cap in case I lose one. Great unit that will be impossible to break.

So I did my front yard which we live on a corner lot. Great product but could use some modifications.Two issues with product:1. The bolts will bang your knee.2. The bar you push on will hurt the arch of your foot especially with a large yard.My suggestion if you get this product is to cut a large pool noodle and cut down the middle. Wrap the front covering the bolts. My yard was a 2 day job. Day one my inner knee was so bruised from constantly hitting the top bolt cap cover. 2nd day with pool noodle it was so much better. I should have used more pool noodle on the bar that you push so you don’t bruise your foot arch.

This aerator is built with quality material and easy to put together. I have used it on my very compacted lawn and expected to exert more effort to the lawn and the aerator alike. The tool held up well with minimum wear besides the tips where they made contact with the dirt. The tool included for cleaning is handy to unclog and I appreciated the inclusion. It is sized properly to be thrown downward with force to make an impact without be tired quickly.

I live in SoCal in the Inland Empire. Our soil is a little more on the sandy side, but can still get to be a bit compact like dg (decomposed granite). My front yard needed a little help, so I bought this aerator to open up the soil and get more oxygen flowing. Yard definitely responded with a few weeks.The product is well built, I found it a little hard to puncture through my dense soil. What I ended up doing was getting a rubber mallet to help hammer it into the soil to get as deep a plug as possible. After going down one side and coming back of the front yard, I ended up with a lot of blisters. So if your soil is really hard and compact, 170 lbs may not be enough to really puncture through the hard ground.Hole size is fine, not too small and not too big. Tray allows it to catch the plugs when they get pushed through.Assembly is easy and the black looks nice.All in all, I like it, but it does require a lot of manual labor.

This tool is an inexpensive yet labor intensive step on device that gets the job done of collecting the plugs while aerating your lawn. My only complaint is that the dirt plug on one of the sides gets clogged often…unsure why.Edit after 1 month of use.:All 3 sides are plugging up now and making work very frustrating. After some more use, I must admit it’s kinda hard to get a good stomp in because the area for your foot to go in is so small. I would not recommend this product.

Did my front lawn in a day or two, was not in a hurry. Best if you do it after it has rained or watered. My lawn was dry lawn and difficult to push in. Once watered the 3 prongs slide in easily and only plugged once. Improved my hard lawn immensely. The tool is very sturdy .I'm 200lbs and it went well.

This is a great alternative to paying someone to come out and aerate. I have some shallow tree roots and worry about them being damaged. With this, I can work around the tree roots and not worry about hurting the tree. I've found that soaking the ground before use helps a lot...we have heavy clay soil here. Then, I also found that the holes should be cleaned out at the end, otherwise the dirt is SUPER hard to get out. I haven't had any issues with clogging so far. I don't mind the time or the effort it takes, I figure I'm getting some exercise and getting my lawn aerated at a price I can actually afford!

Could just be the soil that we have, but instead of cutting plugs out of the turf, the holes of the tool basically just filled up with dirtmudclay after pushing it into the ground every two or three times. It comes with a tool to clear the holes out, but honestly it wasn't worth the trouble even for our relatively small yard.

Pretty useful tool for aerating you lawn. I like the tray that collects the plugs so you can put them where you want instead of just on the lawn where you cut the plugs.
