This is a super solid bike rack. I got it about 8 months ago because my old rack didn't support the back bottom corner of my panniers, so they would sometimes swing into the back wheel. This both supports the whole width of the pannier, and holds it farther out from the wheel than my previous rack, solving that problem.Overall, it's easy to install, solidly built, and has worn well so far (after 8mo of daily use, looks like new), and is strong enough that I worry about overloading my tires before I worry about overloading the rack. I regularly carry 50ish lbs of gear on it for miles (on roads, not trails) and never worry about it. Also, the design lets you easily carry a pack on top and panniers on both sides easily, as they mount to different horizontal bars.I genuinely can't imagine a use case for which this rack wouldn't do well, and would recommend it strongly.

chocked up a bit about the price but knew the easy to remove bag was the only way for me to go. I used 1/2 inch heat shrink to color match (use heat gun to shrink for best job). Every other bag used velcro straps to attach wanted a more solid bag

Amazing rack. Can easily carry things on the top and on the sides at the same time with hardly any fiddling. The extra width and drop of the side bars really helps avoid heel strike on your panniers. For ~5 bucks more than the basic rack, this one is a dead winner.Easy install and rock solid for several months of daily use so far. Plays well with full fenders and disk breaks also, but ymmv. If I need another rack, I wouldn't hesitate to get this one again.

Cycling tours and daily commutes require reliable gear, and the Topeak Super Tourist DX Rear Rack has been a pivotal addition to my setup. Designed with precision and a keen understanding of a cyclist's needs, this rack has transformed how I transport my essentials. Here’s a snapshot of my experience:Pros:Solid Construction: Made from quality materials, this rack is both lightweight and sturdy, handling considerable weights without any signs of strain.Easy Installation: The instructions were clear and the mounting process was hassle-free. It fit securely onto my bike without requiring any additional adjustments.MTX Compatibility: The MTX QuickTrack system compatibility is a plus, allowing for quick and easy attachment of compatible bags or baskets.Integrated Guard: The built-in fender board is a thoughtful touch, providing an added layer of protection against mud and splashes.Versatile Design: Whether it’s daily commuting, a grocery run, or a long-distance tour, this rack adapts seamlessly to various needs.Cons:Side Rails: While they are generally sturdy, attaching larger panniers sometimes requires extra caution to ensure they don't interfere with the wheel. A slightly wider design might alleviate this.To wrap up, the Topeak Super Tourist DX Rear Rack has proven to be a reliable partner on the road. Its durable construction paired with the ease of use makes it an invaluable accessory for both casual riders and seasoned cyclists. If you’re looking to elevate your cargo-carrying game on two wheels, this rack is a worthy investment.

This rack is very light weight. This is excellent for those of us who don't have carbon fibre bikes as you don't wan't too much extra weight attached to our already heavy bikes.Installation was pretty straight forward and was a no-brainer. Actually I had no idea that disk brake bikes take a different style of racks and gotta learn this the hard way. I had purchased a so-called universal bike rack prior to that and I struggled for over an hour trying to figure out how to mount it and eventually had had to give up. Then upon doing some online research, I found out that I got the wrong rack for my type of bike. This one, the moment I overlaid it on top of where it's supposed to go, I instantly knew it will work. There was no guess work trying to figure out what goes where. The thin metal attachment that goes on the frame behind the seat looked a bit daunting to get it working but as you'd tighten the screws, they bend and sit in nicely.

Let me qualify myself first here. I retired from owning a bicycle shop two years ago. I've been in the bicycle retail business for 35 years. So, I'll tell you the thing I told my customers. "Anything that Topeak makes is first class!" This Topeak Super Tourist is the most heavy duty rack Topeak makes that comes without the spring. The spring is unnecessary unless you have a specific purpose in mind. I bought this Super Tourist for my Daughter and her Surly Long Haul Trucker with Disc Brakes that she rides in an urban environment to and from her work place in Portland Oregon. She doesn't own a car...so grocery getter, and all around, all purpose rack is what I had in mind for her. Check out how this rack has the horizontal bar just below the top of the rack platform. That gives a great place to mount touring bags or the folding Wald Baskets that she wants to use on them. All Topeak racks work with their own proprietary bags and baskets. Its simply genius how they slide on the top players channel and clip fully secure with a spring loaded button that instantly unlocks with the push of a button. It comes with not only top quality stainless steel bolts and nylock nuts but also two stainless washers for each bolt and mounting point. The racks stays are a little bit longer than most brands come with making so it will fit more bikes properly. (level) It works SO GOOD!!! There are better racks that are stronger but also heavier and A LOT more expensive. There are lighter weight racks that are cheaper and might even look the same at first glance. (There are loads of subtle differences please take my word for it.) But nothing comes close to the utility, price, quality, fit, options, and ease of use and mounting. Note: I mounted this in her Apartment with her little set of tools I gave her for Christmas when she was 12 years old. It took me about ten minutes. Comes with directions and full Topeak brochure. I rate it a 10 and A+++ Even though there are better racks at ridiculously high prices...I would still reccomend this rack as an expedition-round the world quality rack.

This is, I admit, my first rack, so I don't have anything to compare to. That said, the rack appears solidly built, was easy to install, and is performing admirably.I am a bicycle commuter, and use it to carry about 20-30 lbs, 12 miles each way. Not exactly a heavy load, but enough to reveal a flimsy rack, I think. The good: The extra side rails make mounting my panniers a snap, and leave the main rack surface available for a tail bag or other stuff. Mounting on my disc brake equipped bike was a snap. The rack seems quite solid, with no hint of flex, bend or other structural issues. The less good: I mount and dismount my panniers every time I park, and the rack already shows substantial wear in those areas, despite my panniers hooks being rubberized, and a plastic quick release. Also, I think the rack is pretty heavy, though for the price and load capacity, I do not think the weight is unreasonable.Mounting: The rack came with everything required to mount on my bike (disc brake equipped, with upper braze-ons and lower bolt holes) and more. The included steel straps needed to be bent into position, which could be a problem if you over-bend them. I actually bent them by putting the rack in place, and tightening the screws, and that seems to have worked just fine -- they have a perfect arc, do not seem to be under extreme stress, and aren't rubbing on anything. I will probably go back and cut the excess off at some point, just to avoid having 3-4 inches of steel strap running under the rack. I did have to play with the mounting straps, as my first try left them too long, and had the rack not quite level.Other: The solid panel on top does act as a sort of mini fender, and keeps some mud/spray off the rider, but if you really want protection, get some fenders (I plan to install some later this week). I use these with Avenir Excursion large panniers, with no issues to report.Summary: For this price, I think this is a great option, esp. for the bike commuter who isn't overly concerned about weight, but wants decent carrying capacity.*** UPDATE: I have been using this rack for well over a year now, and well over 4000 miles. I have had no issues with the rack. I have even tested it at close to its manufacturer's limit, when I transported a Banker's Box full of binders (easily 25 lbs or more) in addition to my loaded panniers (~20 lbs). This is definitely a good buy.
