Great adapter! Now I can slide the Topeak bike bags on and off very easily! Simple install. Had to go to hardware store to get longer M5 countersunk screws, but great to be able to add it to the OEM SKS rack on my Bulls iconic EVO E-bike. Have tried a few other types of racks and the Topeak are by far the most sturdy and easy to use. Topeak also has a ton of good options for bags with and without panniers too.

This product works very well for attaching the great line of Topeak MTX bags to existing racks. Many manufacturers would have forced buying a new rack to use their bag system, so I much appreciate that Topeak is fine with customers using what they already have. As others have noted, some customization may be required, but the product is pretty well engineered for a $20 item. In my case, the rack that came installed on the Specialized Como e-bike is too close to the factory installed fender to allow use of the Topeak mounting wing at the front. The rear has plenty of clearance, so I attached both wings at the rear and used zip ties at the front. It works fine and the zip ties are not very visible, so it doesn't look hack. One installation tip: don't crank the rack down to the cross bars as tightly as possible. That will cause the bottom of the rack to bow slightly inward, making the rails pinch the mounting plate on the bottom of the bag. That makes it difficult to slide the bag on and off. Suggest you tighten the mounting screws and then back off slightly.

First off, this was missing 2 screws for the mounting adjustable "wings" on arrival.Frustrating, but since my Bontrager rack was simultaneously too narrow and too wide to use the included mediocre mounting system, I had to zip tie it to my rack instead and ended up not needing the screws.A few critiques:1. If there wasn't a massive gap between the wings when "fully" collapsed (see 1st pic), I would have been able to properly attach it.2. If there was a 5th hole through the top, it would have been easier to zip tie.3. This is an ADAPTER, it should have been designed to fit a wide variety of racks or at least include an alternate mounting method!4. It's a bit sticky, you have to pull exactly parallel to the track while holding your bike in place. Maybe it'll loosen up with age.I would not recommend you buy this unless you're 100% sure it will fit your rack or you're really determined to make it work.

After buying my Evelo e-bike, I was dismayed with one thing--the rack is very nonstandard and as much thicker/taller than other racks. It's impossible to mount panniers through standard mounting mechanisms (and I've tried all the main options) or really use anything aside from Velcro. On the sides I have adapted handlebar mounts but I really wanted a basket to carry work stuff, donations for Goodwill, etc. since the handlebar bags are much smaller than standard panniers. Initially I zip tied one on but it's annoying to have to keep it on when I'm not using it since picking up an e-bike by its rear rack helps to navigate through tight spaces with such a heavy bike.Fortunately, this has worked very well as a mount with a little creativity! Because of the racks thickness/width it wasn't going to work to use the standard mounting that Topeak envisioned. However, I realized that as long as you pushed out the little legs that are meant to go beneath your rack, you could fit a zip tie inside there (I was able to fit larger ones through some but thicker welds on another part of the rack meant I could only use thin ones at the front). I set it up such that the bottom pieces are right in front of and then right behind the crossbars of my rack which gives good forward and reverse stability. And I was able to get the zip ties tight enough that there's pretty good up and down stability as well.Topeak's system seems the most open in that it allows you to buy both this adapter and also the replacement brackets for their basket, which can allow you to adapt your own basket or bag to their system, which I really appreciate. I do wish this had the locking mechanism like a competitor's, but I appreciate that price point that this hits too and that's probably the trade-off.All in all, the build quality feels good for the price and while they didn't intend the way I'm using it, necessarily, the way they chose to engineer the adapter does give you more options than it would initially appear for mounting.

There are at least two bike rack systems that take clip-on rear luggage carriers. On my older bike I have a Topeak rack and a MTX "trunk bag" and I love it. My new Raleigh e-bike though has a German Racktime rack. It's not possible to change it and fit a Topeak rack because the Racktime one is integrated with the lighting and mudguard. It's a good system, but no Topeak I feared. Then I heard of this adapter. On receiving it I was surprised that it is plastic, not metal, but it looked OK. I read that is specifically designed for Racktime racks. Great. Then I read that it is NOT compatible with racks with a spring. Oh dear. The Raleigh Motus and Centros bikes have a Racktime rack with a spring.I looked at ways to maybe remove the spring, cut it off maybe. Then I saw that it has a rod with a small circlip. The circlip was easily removed with pliers, then the whole spring assembly just lifts out. Magic. It was then simple to fit the adapter, and I have my Topeak MTX bag in place.Note: you will need a 3mm hexagon wrench (Allen key) not supplied.I can't comment on durability. The bag looks secure, but I will see how the adapter stands up to wear and tear.

I have always appreciated the Topeak system and I own several bags and a basket. So when I purchased a new bike with a factory rack I was happy to find this conversion system. I was surprised that it was plastic but it seems sturdy and the pannier bags attached well. My one disappointment was that the attachment bars did not go wide enough for my rack. I thought about it for a bit then removed the factory attachment and put a piece of 1x2 wood that I painted black under my rack. I took screws and used the four factory holes to clamp the rack between the wood and the Topeak conversion piece. It works well and I am very happy with the results even though it is not the way it was originally intended to be installed.
