Buyer beware! this awl is a piece of crap!!!! the first time I tried to stitch with it I pulled the needle out of the handle. it NEVER clamped the needle tight! I even used pliers to tighten the set screw up but the needle pulled out of the handle! DO NOT BUY THIS JUNK!!!!!

If you don't lose you mind trying to thread it then you will like it.You must be VERY relaxed before you attempt to thread this awl for the first time.If you are a nervous or impatient person then don't buy it because you will throw it against the wall within the first ten minutes. The thread must be passed through a poorly drilled hole in the handle and then carefully laid in position precisely along side the needle. If you succeed then you will be impressed with the ability of this awl to mend heavy cloth or canvas.

Included instructions were cryptic to me. I never did figure out the correct way to use this. Purchased to stitch two ropes end to end to replace retractable pool cover. I made it work good enough to finish the job.

Easy to set up and use. I used this to sew through three layers of Sunbrella fabric on my sailboat's sail cover. Creates a good and strong seam.

Every thing about this product is just unbelievable. I'm using this product for my leather sneakers. The price for this product is on par. This product functionality is simple enough. Thread quality(unwaxed) is fine, just get waxed thread. Perfect.

I have broken every needle it came with and had to purchase some from a local hobby store, those seem to work no issue. Overall the awl itself is amazing and finely crafted. Just needs some industrial strength needles!
