Perfect for picking out basting stitches when longarm quilting! Just BEWARE - it has a very SHARP point. Yes - I found out the hard way...

I used to use an icepick to make holes for hand-stitched eyelets, but this is better! This is compact and fits into my portable sewing kit, but has a wide-enough handle for comfortable pushing into stiff cloth. It is very sharp, so if you need a ball-point awl to avoid splitting fibers, get that instead, but this one spreads wider at the handle, allowing the hole to be made wider if needed.

I bought this to use in junction with a leather hole punch tool for my most recent renaissance faire stays project. I love the handle on this and was pretty ergonomic! 48ish grommets set in the span of a few hours and my hand wasn’t dying 🤩 plus I love how sturdy the tip is on this and it worked well to push fibers away from the grommets when I set them in place.

Feels great in my hand and helps me so much with feeding my fabric. I have lymphedema and this has helped me enjoy sewing again.

Got this for leather crafting. My other cheap chinese ones had a coating on the awl that started to chip off when punching holes. This awl is very sharp and seems very durable so far. I use it all the time and have had no issues. Overall look and feel are superb.

I haven't been able to use my awl much yet but I've used these before. They are WONDERFUL, they are sharp and actually taper to a reasonable size. The base sits comfortably in my hand and it's small enough to actually fit in a sewing kit, some of the newest awls are like holding a golf ball-terrible.
