Don't waste your money. I put one each into two separate plants that I had just watered. The next day, I looked and the "needles" and neither had moved from dry, so I pulled one from the plant and stuck it in water to see if it was even working. The needle moved to the lowest "moist" level, of which there were several levels of moist, but it was nowhere near the "wet" level, and this was after 3 hours sitting in water.

Soil Moisture Meter tells you, instantly, whether your plants need water. With this meter, you will know that sometimes though the top of the soil looks dry, just beneath the surface it's very wet--no wonder the plants are struggling. I have been overwatering my plants forever and it was attracting Nats. Ugh...It's very easy to use, just stick it in the dirt and the dial instantly tells you whether the soil is dry, moist, or wet. I stick mine in and come back and look. It's so easy. It saves me from overwatering.About ten minutes after inserting the meter into the soil, the pointer will indicate the correct value of moisture. I want a house full of plants and I get troubled when knowing my plants need to drink water? This meter is my reliable partner, I can know the soil moisture you care about by measuring it and helping ME quickly become a gardening expert!It is accurate with the results. I insert the probe of plant water meter into the soil about 2-4 inches.It is especially designed for soil it works so well and I am having green healthy plants again
