Sowing The Seed
Coleus seeds are best started in a controlled environment because of their size. It’s recommended to start indoors in peat pots, scattering the tiny seeds directly to the surface of the soil, 6 to 8 weeks prior to the last frost. Transplant or direct sow outdoors when the weather is warm. (Light required for germination)
Growing Conditions
Coleus plants will enjoy an area that receives full sunlight in cooler regions, to partial shade in warmer regions. They prefer a light and rich soil. It is best to mix hard compact soil with compost to allow for better drainage. Water the seeds daily with a mist setting so that the soil is kept moist until germination occurs.
Germination & Growth
Coleus seeds will begin to show signs of life in as little as 5 days but average at around 7 to 14 days after sowing. Plants bare colorful foliage that grows to a mature height of about 18 to 30 inches tall. Space 12 to 18 inches apart. Coleus mixture is great in beds, borders and containers.

Nearly 100% germination! The plants are coming up nicely and pucking up color in the centers! I sowed heavily then pricked them out to allow for healthy root development. They're in my indoor greenhouse under strong grow lights and I'll soon move them to a large pot and harden them for outdoor enjoyment 😉

I couldn’t be happier with these coleus seeds! Out of the 25 seeds I planted every single one germinated— a 100% success rate, which is far better than I expected. I thinned out half of them as i didn't need 25. They sprouted quickly and have been growing strong and healthy.One of the best surprises was the amazing variety of colors. I ended up with a stunning mix of reds, greens, purples, and even yellows. I love that every one is unique.The seeds were clearly fresh and high quality, and I had no issues with mold or weak seedlings. If you’re looking for a reliable coleus seed mix with great germination and a wide range of colors, I highly recommend these! I’ll definitely be buying more.

It’s been almost a month and I don’t see anything germinating. I bought a single package previously and started seen sprouting in less than 2 weeks so I got excited and bought these in a bundle but didn’t get same results. Seller sent me new seeds. Thanks

I had high hopes for this product. Have seen this particular plant and it is beautiful. I returned it because of the packaging. Came in a brown manilla envelope. Not the package shown in the Amazon description. I have read many reviews of wrong seeds sent. Did not want to take a chance.Also the product description said the seeds were good for several years. On the envelope was printed 6 month expiration. How can you use 800 seeds in such a short period of time?

These sprouted well, but every single one of them are only green! No color variation whatsoever. I sort of feel scammed.

Happy plant babies as you can see, I sow multiple seeds together because I live life on the edge. Started the seeds in late August. Looks like I have some that will be turning white on the inside with green edges while many are variegated purple. Some are looking like they’ll remain the solid-colored vibrant lime green. No complaints, easy to grow. Recommend starting with a ziploc bag over your nursery pot to maintain humidity. Love them 💖Updated 12/19/23 w 2nd pic:Big & beautiful.

Update: these seeds produced some GORGEOUS coleus! So many different varieties. Some are HUGE. I have some going that are 3 and 4 feet tall and just look amazing. I would definitely buy seeds from this brand again. Just gorgeous!You will have like 80 million coleus plants. The seeds are sooo teeny tiny miniscule. I never knew what coleus seeds looked like. I had intended to plant them with the kids, but these aren't a good choice for that since the seeds are the size of a pin point.It says you get a total of 800 seeds and I would say it's more like what seems to be 80 million.I did up a bunch in little seedlings cups and put them under my lights. It got to the point I thought none were gonna sprout and then the next day, when looking super closely, I saw the teeny tiniest little green dot sprouts in all the cups. You really have to look hard to see them. After that, they all started popping up and growing more.Since the seeds are so tiny, I was just picking up a bunch on my finger tip and then sort of flicking them off into my little soil cups. I figured half probably wouldn't be viable anyway, so no big deal. Nope. Seems like they pretty much all sprouted and now there's a million coleus growing in each lil seedling pot. Sooooo now I am about to redo into bigger cups and separate all the tiny plants before they entangle roots.I am so curious to see how they end up and what the colors will be. Hopefully not all green. I will update my review as things go along, but as of now I'm perfectly happy with them. Even though it seemed to take long to germinate and see a sprout, it was actually quicker than it was supposed to be. I still have no idea how I will use up all the seeds. Definitely a great value.
