Product Description

Lotus plants typically found in freshwater habitats, such as ponds, lakes, and slow-moving rivers. They thrive in regions with warm climates and are native to parts of Asia, including India and China.

Lotus is notable for their large, round leaves that float on the water's surface. The leaves can measure up to 18 inches in diameter and are often held above the water. The flowers of the lotus plant are large and fragrant. The flowers are held above the water on long stalks.

Lotus plants can be cultivated in garden ponds and water features. They require full sun and thrive in still or slow-moving water. Gardeners often use specialized pots or containers to grow lotus plants in their water gardens.

Germination Instructions:

Soak the Seeds:Place the lotus seeds in a shallow container or bowl filled with clean, dechlorinated water. Allow the seeds to soak for 24 to 48 hours. Change the water daily to prevent stagnation.

Prepare Support Sticks:While the seeds are soaking, prepare toothpicks or bamboo skewers by breaking them in half. These will be used to support the seeds during germination.

Plant the Seeds:After soaking, you'll notice that the seeds have swelled and become soft. Take a seed and gently insert a toothpick or bamboo skewer horizontally through the center of the seed, making sure it remains secure but not pierced through. Place the supported seed in a separate container.

Provide Water and Sunlight: Fill the container with clean, dechlorinated water. Place the container in a warm, sunny location with indirect sunlight. Lotus seeds require warmth to germinate, so maintain a consistent temperature between 70-90°F

Monitor and Wait: Over several days to weeks, you should observe the lotus seeds starting to swell and produce shoots. Change the water regularly to keep it clean and maintain proper humidity.

Transplant Seedlings:Once the seedlings have developed strong roots and a few leaves, they can be carefully transplanted into larger containers or directly into your pond or water garden.

Care for Seedlings: Seedlings require care similar to mature lotus plants, including proper water depth, sunlight, and nutrients.

Since it’s only been 7 days since I put the seeds in water I will give a 4-star review, but I’m betting on a 5 very soon! Could not have been easier to make them germinate and in a couple of days I’ll move them to the sand/clay mixture. I’m lucky to live in a place where there is abundant sunlight, so the bowl is outside for a few hours every day. Updates to follow.

I place these seeds in a bowl of water and put them outside in the sun. Changed the water after three days. Within the next three days the shoots were coming out of the seeds. Changed the water again and left in the sun. Within the next 3 days leaves were forming and I then placed in the pond. All seeds germinated and now have leaves. Two weeks have passes since placing the seeds into water. I truly am impressed. Leaves are floating on the pond and am awaiting to see if they flower. Not expecting to in the first year but who knows. I will mention that I live in the country and started these seeds in well water. Not sure if that makes a difference verses city water that has chlorine in it.

The seeds are sufficience. It germinated well. The big issue is that, the seeds are lotus seeds. Not one seed was water lilly. I ordered lily seeds. I do not want lotus. You sent me all lotus. Please change the discriptions of the products.

out of 20 seeds only two did not germinate . The others have been sprouting like crazy over the last five or so days since starting them. I havent planted them yet because the roots have not developed yet, but that seems to be on track with the amount of time the package said it would take. They were very easy to sprout, so , so far so good. it can take 5 months for them to bloom once planted so thats about all i can say at the moment. would I buy again? If they thrive yes, if not maybe I would try again.
