Purchased many months ago and just went to use it. There is no hardware in the box and no keys. The clamp is locked and therefore cannot use at all.

They were easy to install on my rood rack with a couple different sized bolts that what they came with. They feel a little loose in the hinge when open, but when closed on skis, they feel very secure and the locks help keep honest people honest..... did a 500+ mile multi day, multi location ski trip with them in AZ and CO they they worked great.

This rack was purchased to upgrade from a smaller Thule brand rack that only fit 3 pair of skis… with 5 kids, the van was getting crowded. For the price, this rack can’t be beat. It is not the most solid construction, but it’s also not flimsy. I secure the bars closed with bungee cords just because it’s one more means of securing the ski rack to the luggage rack. The locking mechanism seems sturdy enough. Hopefully I don’t forget where I stowed the keys 😬

I was desperate for a new ski rack, since I’m now living in Crested Butte, CO at the moment, and because of that, money is kinda tight. While the product seemed to be what I wanted, accommodating the skis/snowboards I need to haul to the hill this winter, and even though I found the overall quality of this rack is really lacking, I’m giving it a total of ⭐️⭐️⭐️… but let me explain:1.) Once you get it on top of your whip, do NOT expect a quiet ride. On my ‘22 Tucson, it whistles at 10mph, getting higher pitched/louder, the faster I go. Once I hit 80mph, the whistling stops, or else it’s so high pitched that even the deer won’t cross the road. But since the plan is to be driving in snow, 80 isn’t safe. That’s annoying— so 1⭐️ deduction. (Starting at off -1⭐️/not great)2.) I attempted to mount it to my Thule Aeroblades, but the included hardware doesn’t really securely attach to the top of the Blade. The washers included for each mounting screw are a thin metal one, and a hard “plastic/metal” one for each attachment point. These are either too much, or not enough. There’s a thick, black washer that’s supposed to lift the rack off the Blade. That just didn’t feel secure, or safe. The rack felt better directly on top of the Blade, so I put the black washer inside the rack with the metal washer to take up the space on the mounting screw where the (*fixed-depth/bad design) nut secures it to the Blade. If it’s between the rack and the blade, or inside the rack like I had it, either way, it doesn’t work because it doesn’t really leave enough of the screw threads exposed. That’s probably why, when I tightened the nut on the first bolt (#1 of 4), it immediately stripped the top of the screw. So I tossed the black washer in the garbage and went to the hardware store for metal washers that wild actually work. They were the right thickness (turns out I needed 2 of them), and I was able to at least tighten the first one down completely. Success!! Without the black washer, the nut doesn’t tighten the rack to the blade securely, so I replaced all four stock washers on the attachment screws, but put them inside the rack. But then another screw started to strip as I cracked it down, so I reluctantly backed off (I really hope I don’t regret that). 1 more ⭐️ deduction. (Now we’re at MINUS — ⭐️⭐️. Uh oh… refund time?)3.) I realized there was a different way to attach the rack, so I thought I’d use the alternate mounts that are included (+1⭐️), but there’s no way to securely lock them to the rack like the first option, so after installing then (successfully I might add!), for the theft protection of my boards, I tossed those, which has me now removing the added ⭐️ (still at -⭐️⭐️; not looking good at all)4.) Though it’s a bit of a stretch to fit 4 normal-sized snowboards (I don’t have 4, but I can imagine it won’t work), the rack WILL hold at least 3 pairs of powder skis, each separated, for a total of 6 skis across (for better aerodynamics), or easily hold 5 pairs, each stacked, with some extra room (for poles?)! One set I have with AT bindings worried me a little because I wasn’t sure if they’d clear the sunroof (obviously I won’t open it with skis on top), but: NO problem! And I could probably put more than 5 in the rack if they’re cross country skis and not fat, modern boards!! +⭐️⭐️! (back to 0⭐️ total, 😮💨).5.) But back to mounting the rack— once I replaced the included washers with “aftermarket” ones, the rack felt super secure, unlike the guy who’s “snowboard flew off the top of his car damaging his snowboard”… I guess I attached them more securely, and closed and locked my gear in place 🤷🏻♂️. Now that it’s attached to the rack properly, add 1⭐️ (up to ⭐️ now)6.) The seal on the rubber is super tight, which helps with airflow and noise. +1 ⭐️ (now at ⭐️⭐️ total)7.) Skip to two days after the track arrived— we just got a typical 30" Crested Butte storm, I strapped three pairs of skis on top (stacked), jumped in the car blasted up to the mountain for a first chair bluebird day, and after finishing the day and driving home, I got exactly the performance I was expecting! So I gave it at least + 1⭐️ additional. And that’s how we got to a total of ⭐️⭐️⭐️.All things being equal, I could have given it at least ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ if it didn’t whistle, and would definitely added an additional ⭐️ if the washers worked properly, the mounting screws were longer, and the screws didn’t strip. That would’ve been a well-deserved ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ review, and I’d recommend it to everyone. But alas… not so much.If you’re like me, and a “frugal” guy (eg: cheap), this is a fair, and reasonable option for you! But… as the title of this review said, you get what you pay for! And if cash isn’t a concern, buy a Thule, Yakima, or RhinoRack ski rack. My experience is, their quality is WAY better, and it won’t “fly off your roof”, whistle, strip out, or, or, or… 🙄So, a conservative ⭐️⭐️⭐️ it is.Sorry SavvyCraft… 🤷🏻♂️ But off you make your product better, it’d earn much higher ratings.
