Do not waste your money on cheap roof racks. The kuat grip 4 is durable and very easy to use. Bought one for $100 and the hardware broke installing it. Returned and bought these. Rather spend 400 than waste 100 and risk losing a board on the highway.

Its expensive, but the slide out feature really makes loading skis much easier. It was simple to install and seems very rugged.

All of the reviews I read and watched raved about the Kuat, and now that I have it in hand I understand why. It is light weight, but sturdy and it has more features than the competition but at the same price. It is easy to assemble with simple instructions (words and pictures printed on quality material with colors, if you care) easy to mount on what seems like any style roof rack (mine are from the manufacturer, not aftermarket) easy to adjust, secures quickly for removal, and locks for security (the keys and locks are easily accessible even if you have gear on). Holds skis of universal sizes (long or short, hourglass or narrow, and different thicknesses) and the slide out rack means that even my son can load our gear. Not to mention, this rack looks great! Several different color options, but that gunmetal (anthracite) and orange really pops!I have nothing negative to say about this ski rack, and would highly recommend for anyone who is looking to hit the slopes and still have room for people, luggage, coolers, and other gear in the car!*I can’t speak for extra wind noise, because the rack makes some without the Kuat on top. As long as the sunroof is closed (and I think we all do that during ski season), it doesn’t seem to add any additional noise. Same with fuel consumption, I have not noticed any differences.**The Kuat also holds snowboards, but that’s not my thing. I wanted to make sure to clarify incase someone didn’t know it would hold and transport skis and/or snowboards.

Super easy to use and install. I recommend loosening the locking straps much more than needed, locking them in place, and then tightening the straps with the allen key. much easier than trying to fiddle with the key side latch which is kind of hard to get straight.I was able to fit 2 snowbards (back to back) and 3 pairs of skis, although one of the racks wasnt able to lock all the way down (first lock). Still felt secure and the key lock went in place so I was fine with that.Only complaint is that if you have front to rear roof racks the slide out on this rack doesnt have enough clearance, so it you need to lift and scoot skis/bindings over them. not a big deal, probably prefer the lower clearance anyway.Overall solid craftsmanship and gear feels like its locked in solid.

This set of ski rack is well designed and looks very durable. The installation is very easy and quick, only took about 15 mins. The locks provide great security for the equipment attached. It was used in severe winter storm whether and worked without any problem.

I’ve had this rack for two years now. Having a taller vehicle I needed something that would help in getting my skis down without brushing up against my car and getting my clothes dirty. With the slide out portion of the rack this has been wonderful. The fit and finish is nice with a smooth gloss to them. The rubber for holding the skis seems to slightly discolor, but the blocks are still soft and pliable. The locks will freeze if they get water in them so you might want to have a lighter or some sort of lock lube. The only negative thing I can think of and this has nothing to do with the design or function of the rack is that if you arrive at the mountain and it’s dumping snow, you have to mindful of the fact that when you pull the sliding part of the rack out it will collect snow on the track and possibly prevent you from sliding them all the way back in and locking them. I had to dig out the snow with my keys at the opposite end where the snow had piled up and created a barrier. This happened early in my ownership and I have learned to quickly slide out the racks and push them back in.

This rack is the only one that looks good and is so simple and easy to use. I love the slide out feature. I have only had this rack for about 3 weeks. I unloaded my skies and went into the parking garage, I didn't flip the lock switch to lock. I was just lazy and didn't think it was needed, as I pulled into the garage I heard a loud crash as the arm for the rack ripped off and hit the side wall of the parking garage. It was sicking up and open. Not sure how the rack was open after I shut it. I was so upset, I spent $500 on a rack and now it's worthless. As a hell mary I called Kuat and within 20 mins I have a new rack being sent to me for free!!! Thanks KUAT!!! You guys are awesome and I am now a lifetime Kuat fan!!!
