i bought the crossbars and ski rack together as a package. the ski rack brackets which attach to the crossbars are complete garbarge. first of all you would think that they would size up properly and hold well. I have to say the shape of the crossbars and the opening of the clamps are not the same, so it will cause the ski rack to not mount very well. but the worst thing is that the bolts or the threaded nut inside the plastic clamp are absolute garbage. I was having a hard time getting the bolt started through the threads, finally got it to go a bit but then the threads were messed up so that I could not completely turn the bolt in to secure the ski rack. I bought this package so that I could put my skis on the car and we were leaving next day for our trip. so, I could not get this thing mounted to due bad threading on at least two bolt/nuts. there may have been more but I didn't even try more since I got so fed up with not being able to mount the 1st bracket. the crossbars I got on OK and they seem solid, although I with it had a locking mechanism. the ski rack seemed OK but I never got to try it due to the brackets. I will be sending this back as a return.

Very flimsy. Missing screws that hold it together. Very hard to mount
