Hopefully the assembler of this product has a basic ability to assemble items without instructions and able to think outside the box since the instructions provided are not very useful. Have not used for transporting the ski's yet.

Likes: Size, color, function, key lock.Room for improvement (and why I didn't give it the 5th star):1. Instructions - I followed the instructions and installed all of the bases onto my roof rack, then had to remove them in order to to install them onto the ski racks as the hidden bolt (H) was too short.2. Putting the washer and hex bolt onto that (H) bolt was difficult even after removing the bases from the rack. However, once the bases were attached to the ski rack, attaching to the vehicle's roof rack was quick and easy. The 29.4" specification in the instructions was a "don't care."3. A simple Allen wrench will allow someone to remove the rack and any equipment locked down simply by removing one of the hex bolts from each of the bases.4. The last picture shows some sticky residue from the manufacturer that required some some goof-off to remove.5. The hex head bolts that attach the bases to the crossbar show signs of oxidation after a few rain/snow events.

Don't follow the directions. Instead, attached the clamshell unit to the rack, then attach it to your car rack. Also, easier to install with two people.

The unit was promoted to fit my 2018 Tiguan. The installation manual noted in one section that this was 29” wide for the inside measurement- but in the next section it stated that the unit was 39”. It is indeed 39” wide. Had to return it. It looked sturdy and would be a good value. However, I had to buy a different brand because of the width.

Easy to assemble and works great! The entire installation was fairly simple. Holds my skis well. Easy to install and fit perfectly to the frame. I am very happy with this purchase and would definitely recommend it to other interested buyers.
