These ski racks can hold at least 4 pairs of skis sandwiched together, maybe 5 or 6 pairs if they are skinny. The pull out feature is very helpful and these have functioned for me for the past two months perfectly.They have a racheting function which expands the clamp width to allow doubled up sandwiched skis. The clamp pressure is pretty high - secure, but maybe less ideal for longovernight drives as it might not be the best for the skis.Install was as easy and well thought out as it could be, and the lock is smooth.If you decide to go with ski a rack and not a box - I can't imagine a better ski rack. The grey and orange is a shiny aluminum.
