About this item

  • Flickering Ink "Enjoy the Shimmering Color Change"
  • Ink: Evening - SEKI - Water-based Dye 0.7 fl oz (20 ml)
  • [Features] The shades and bleeding can be seen glimply, and the color changes depending on time and paper
  • (Specifications) Unique color that creates a different expressive sky every time you write
  • Bottle size: W 1.3 x D 1.3 x H 2.3 inches (W 34 x D 34 x H 58 mm)

Color: Sunset: The ink allows you to see different colors in shades and bleeds, and the color will change depending on the time and the paper you write. While conventional products were primarily used with a special paper, the color change is prevalent, the "flickering ink" can be enjoyed even on regular high-quality paper. The different writing on a variety of paper and the passage of time will show different expressions, so you can not only use it as a fountain pen ink, but also use a dip pen or glass pen to create a wide range of "swaying" colors.

so initially I thought I got a bad bottle bc my swatches didn't look like the online swatches/bottle color at all, it's bc the listing name/description is wildly inaccurate. Kitsune biyori is from sailors yurameku line, these are chromashader inks that are SUPPOSED to have a wild variety of displayed colors. I ended up returning my bottle since it'll never display anything close to that color on regular paper

I love it’s color variations. It does seem to darken over time the longer it sits in a pen however. I can’t even understand what that’s about. Stunning color though in all its variations.

I’m usually a fan of sailor inks, but this one I’m not so sure. It’s my least favorite one.

Maybe good with a large nib fountain pen, or a brush or glass dip pen. I’m using a fine tip pen and can barely see the ink, It’s beautiful when I can see it but it’s hard to get it to show when lettering. Would be nice for sketching

Sailor inks get a LOT of hype. Something I've noticed, however, is how much you get to spend for not a lot of ink.Meanwhile Birmingham, I'd argue, has comparably beautiful ink for similar prices. The difference is that Birmingham gives you 100ml and Sailor gives you 20ml.I did the math, unfortunately, and it's telling me that Sailor's a teeny bit overrated.By the way the color is fine. You need a huge nib to really get the full effect. I had a Triple Tail on hand. What stunk is that with a pen putting that amount of ink down, it was prone to feathering. So, I either got feathering or a flat, uninspired grey color that honestly reminds me of J. Herbin Gris Nuage (half the price).

Writing done in any ink from this Sailor series will likely look gray at a glance, but if you actually look, you’ll quickly notice several colors pooling together, creating sheen and high shading in unique patterns.I found Byakuya both too anemic and the wrong color combination for my personal taste. The pale teal/greenish-gray mingling with shades of purple is reminiscent of a bruise, not to mention nearly disappeared on most paper I tried (Tomoe River was best, but still not great).Kangyou, on the other hand, is still nicely muted like the rest of the set, but richer and a bit deeper base gray with lovely, more obvious multi-chromatic shading. For simply writing with a nib, it’s much more legible & present compared to the the Byakuya. The impression I get from my writing samples with fine and broad nibs on different papers is that *Kangyou is essentially just a darker/richer version of Byokuya*, but there might be more noticeable differences between them in a larger context like painting. My reason for returning both is the acrid chemical scent of the inks in this line, so strong that I can smell it coming from my pen while writing.Besides these and Pelikan 4001, I‘ve not found other inks with a actively bad smell. Maybe it’s the specific dye used?I’m a bit disappointed I wasn’t able to “unlock their full potential,” if you will. I just hope they go to a home with a less sensitive nose!!

Sailor's Seki ink is an interesting and rather odd fountain pen ink. It puts down a multi-hued line that is at once pink, green violet, and gray. It is on the pale side but it seems like it darkens on the paper soon after something has been written down. The ink is wet and takes a bit of time to dry but it is very attractive. I recommend a pen with a wet nib to get the most out of this ink. Recommended!
