Bought these to use for sketching and wanted dark colors. They are dark enough for journaling too. Plus, if you sketch and add water to get a tonal drawing, they work for that too.

Its this, Lamy, or Waterman for me. Reliable flow, doesn't stay too wet for too long. The writter's blood was a tad drier but still great! Diamine just has so many color options!

Diamine fountain pen inks are great - this triplet of colors is really special. The Writers Blood has an antique sepia feel. I love it for journaling. Both the Midnight Blue and the Green Black are actually "conservatively muted" -- I can use them at work without them seeming too flamboyant. The only problem I've had is that the bottle openings are rather tight for some pens and the bottle doesn't always allow for filling some pens once the level of ink has gone down some. You may opt for a syringe to use for filling or pour the ink into your favorite ink bottle. NOT a serious enough problem for me to quit using Diamine inks though. I'll be buying more. Highly recommended.

As others have said, the red can tend a bit to the brown side, almost like dried blood. Both the green and blue are quite dark, nearly black in a pen with a thick/juicy nib. Nice unobtrusive, professional colors. My previous red & green inks were too light, so I'm happy that these aren't like that. They're not the "perfect" versions of red, green, and blue that I had in my mind's eye, but that's not their fault. Searching for the "perfect" color is half the fun for us fountain pen enthusiasts, I think! So far my favorite blue is Levenger's cobalt blue. These are the best red and green I've found so far, but I will probably try another version of each at some point. I'm the meantime I'm quite happy with these. They write very well in a variety of pens and they're priced very competitively. It's nice to be able to get an assortment for the price I'd normally pay for one bottle of Noodler's ink.

I mostly wanted the Writer's Blood ink, but thought it was a good deal to get two other colors to play with! I think the photo makes the inks look slightly more vibrant than they are, but the contrast of the three colors together makes them seem brighter as well. Anyway, the Writer's Blood is exactly what I wanted -- a deep brownish-red. Green/Black is exactly how it's named, a dark muted green. Midnight is a deep blue in the nib, but when you paint with it it's just a straightforward blue.All three flow very nicely with no skipping. The sample pic is on cheap notebook paper and they didn't bleed at all (except for the big painted blobs, but that was expected).I like the design of the label. However, the bottles being so narrow, they have a tendency to tip. One of the pics I posted shows the bottle in a 3d printed bottle stand, which solves that problem for me. I am a big klutz and I really didn't want to turn my whole dining room table Midnight blue! :)These are my first Diamine inks and I am happy with them. I do plan to try more. But which colors?!
