Paired this rod with an Orvis Battenkill clicker reel and couldn't be happier. Have fished this rod for almost two years and have had zero issues

I AM 70 YEARS OLD AND I HAVE NEVER HAD A FLY ROD BREAK.My father introduced me to fly fishing when I was an early teenager. Even though I saw reviews on this rod talking about rod breaks, I assumed they were catching really big fish. In all my years of fly fishing in Kentucky for bluegill, crappie, and bass, I’d never had a rod break.Today, I caught a nice size bluegill (irrelevant) and then in throwing my line back into the water my lure got hung in a bush. It didn’t come loose easily so I had to pull hard to get it loose. I wasn’t too surprised when the leader broke in trying to get my popper loose, but I was quite surprised when the rod broke.Just do the math. You pay $80 for a rod that lasts less than two months. I don’t know how much my dad paid for those back in the day, but I’m sure it wasn’t a lot because we were not wealthy.

I have Sage, Orvis, and Winston rods but I rarely use them. I purchased a 8'6" 5wt Classic Trout for a backup rod. Now I have a 6,5,4, and two 3wts.Ive been fly tying and fishing for 50 years and the older I got I began appreciating a more moderate action rod because I enjoy the play and feel of the catch, which I don't get with a fast action, stiff rod. If you're a beginner or a novice this rod is what to buy. Being able to feel the backload of your cast is critical for accuracy and distance. Im guessing people who buy fast action high-end rods can cast 70 feet but who needs to cast 70 feet. This rod can help one learn to cast properly and eventually will send your fly 50 to 60 ft with a 9ft 4/5wt....and you'll be enjoying the feel of the rod when you play your fish, remembering to not play it too long so you can release him humanely, allowing a fellow fisherperson, the same experience.

So far I’ve caught a couple fish using this rod. It is very light, and sensitive. It has a classy look with easy alignment dots. I like that it breaks down to 4 pieces. The rod handle well and I am pleased with my choice as a beginner fly fisherman.

I rarely write reviews, but I felt compelled to write this one. This rod casts as well as my sage rods, if not better. I’ve been casting for over 30 years. My T&T 7-8wt was broken (loose grip) and I remember a guide telling me he uses these rods for his clients. I didn’t expect much. I caught over 120 salmon in Alaskan Bush (av wt about 10-12 lbs). Couldn’t be happier with this rod. I had a buddy and guide give it a try and they both agreed. You won’t be disappointed.

Rod is great and casts lovely, fit an finish is nice except they use low quality cork with plenty of filler. Just ensure that you don't settle for a questionable handle.

I own a lot of rods, heavy on high end graphite and classic split cane. I wanted a good all around 7w that wouldn’t break the bank and opted for the Path II. I’ve got it paired with a Lamson Liquid 3 pack - bottom line is this is a seriously nice rod for any price. The performance is comparable to much pricier stuff, and that’s no bull. I’ve used it for sea run cutthroat, steelhead, and trout, with wff, sink tip, and full sink lines from Rio and Cortland - the rod has very impressive power and balance - it’ll throw a line a long way, and also handle delicate, in close presentation remarkably well. I couldn’t be happier.
