The exterior faces have a nice plastic wrap to protect it from scuffs while in the package. It was a very quick install and immediately made the door feel more secure.

This didn’t actually fit my door as hoped. But the product itself is good. Just be sure to accurately measure

Pros...sturdy , stainless steel, I used it on my shed door I had made yeasrs ago. I was also able to attach a hasp on it as well. The metal is tough to drill through..which is good..It's heavy duty.Cons...a little skinny..I got a 1 3/8 for my 1 3/8 door ...the metal was a little tight..I had to use a C clamp to join it on there. Over all 5 stars much stronger than metal than I expected. Took about 40 minutes to install on my outside shed door. It's sturdy..should keep honest crooks away. (-;Pastor Chuck

Our doors are almost 120 years old. We had to break into an interior one when we got locked out of a room. It damaged the area around the knives pretty bad. This works perfectly. I didn't even have to fill in the chunk of missing wood between the handle and the door edge. I also bought the 24" door jamb repair strip for the other side. I used my wood planer to shave a little of the wood off behind the 24" strip so that the door plate doesn't rub the repair strip. I plan on buying another one of these for a door that started to crack by the the handle from over a century of wear and tear.

This device, called a reinforcing plate (also called a wrap around by locksmiths) comes in multiple sizes and widths. Measure your door width. Some are 1 3/8" Some are 1 3/4" The one pictured is for an interior door like on a bedroom, or bathroom that has been beat up. I may be cheaper to use one of these than to buy a new door. Check with a professional if in doubt.

I stumbled across this while searching for something else, which frequently happens to me. I didn't even know these existed! I didn't really have a need to strengthen my doors, as they are advertised for, but my house is old (Built in 1855), and still had the old school hardware for doorknobs and locks (Think keyhole, with a key like they use in fairy tales). These aren't really sufficient for modern times, but upgrading my hardware left holes in the door in odd places. These fit the bill perfectly for covering them up, and made the hardware attach much more solid than it was previously. I was having issues with the doors blowing open in the wind, or even without wind, because there wasn't enough wood to solidly mount modern hardware. This product resolved that problem and then some. The doors look like they were made for modern hardware now! And there is no longer any slop in them, they are rock solid. I liked them so well; I bought more kits after I did the front and back doors!
