This Privacy Emergency Key is Schlage compatible designed to unlock an interior door lockset. This door lock pin will allow you to unlock the interior bedroom or bathroom door from the exterior. Convenient spare emergency door unlucker key pins to keep above the door trim, on the exterior side of the door, for quick access in case of an emergency. This key is designed to open a privacy function bedroom and bathroom doors from the exterior side of the door.
INSTRUCTIONS
STEP 1
Line up your door lock pin with the hole and insert it inside the knob or latch. Make sure that your key tool is strong enough to push the release button, but still small enough to fit inside the hole.
STEP 2
Press inside the knob or latch until the release button trips. Do not try to turn the knob while pressing. You may need to realign the privacy key a few times before it lands on the release button. You will hear a click when the release has been pressed.
LEVER REMOVAL
Locate the small hole on the side of the door latch or knob. Line up your key pin with the hole and insert it inside the knob or latch.
LEVER REMOVAL
Press inside the knob or latch until the release button trips. Pull to remove the lever from the chasis.

This is the type of item you add to your cart because you know youβll need it in the future. Itβs the right price for what it is and is made from a sturdy material. My only complaint is that they are a little short and thus cannot be used for every door with this type of mechanism.

I did not. My fault. Had to order another type when these did not work. They arrived on time and as advertised, but my lack of attention made them unusable.

I lost my little door lock for the bathroom. A coat hanger will work, butβ¦. I just like to have these handy. They work and arenβt as big as a coat hanger

These are perfect. I hid them all over my house so I can keep the grandsons out of certain rooms and access any they accidentally lock.

With small grandchildren frequently in the house, I keep key pins close to all interior doors that have locks. We recently had the house repainted and most of them disappeared. Ordered these for our Schlage door handles and they are exactly like the original (I did still have a couple to compare them with) - same length and same effectiveness. As the original, you have to have a feel for where to insert them to get them to work. I would recommend people try them out ahead of time so they are not in a panic when they have to use them. Even though they are pretty simple pieces of metal, I thought the price was fine and worth it to me not to have to jerry-rig a coat-hanger. I now have copies in every area I need them plus two spares tucked away for the future.
