Easy to learn, easy to use. Quick tool for rekeying multiple cores fast and easy. No need for any key except the new key. I easily rekeyed 12 entry locks and 24 deadbolt cylinders. Very happy with this product. Worth the price with the time saved.

Did exactly what I needed it for and that was to rekey a Kwikset smart key after having lost the original key. A flaw in the Kwikset smart key systems is that you can't rekey the lock unless you have the last key that was programmed.THis worked perfectly to rekey several.Not sure why the color of the plastic was black instead of red as advertised, but doesn't matter as it worked the same so not downgrading over that.

This device works fine on a new Kwikset lock (for which I don't need it because I have the original key) but does not work on an older, circa 2009, Kwikset lock (for which I don't have the original key hence why I purchased this device). I followed the instructions. I oiled the lock per the troubleshooting section. I verified that the older lock wasn't stuck and that the parts moved without difficulty. But no dice. If this device only works on newer locks then, in my opinion, the description should say so. It would have saved a pointless purchase followed by a return.

I like the fact that I no longer have to buy lock cylinders that cost $15-$25 each or buy a new deadbolt or door knob. I simply place the cylinder into the kwikset tool, turn the tool from 0 to 1, use the red handled shark key in the slot next to key inset and press, insert a new key with any cut and pull the cylinder out and once out, turn the key right and left and back to center and remove the key. Done. That simple and for a real affordable price. I love this tool. Otherwise I'd have to buy new for more money or disassemble the cylinder and line up the 5 small rods so the center bar could be pressed to reset the cylinder to learn the new key. Trust my, it save a bunch of time and money. Has to be the smartkey system from kwikset and it cost the same at the regular lock sets from kwikset. Thanks for an awesome tool that truly does what it was designed to do.

I managed to reset 10 deadbolts and door handlesI read the instructions and watched videos it’s very easy when it does workThe problem is alignment with the pins it just won’t turn to engage the pins I soaked the cylinders with WD40 and pushed the lock pinsIt took about 10 to 15 minutes each to keep playing with it until the pins finally engaged in the cylinderAfter that it was easyThe alignment and tolerances between the tool and cylinders do not matchAlso need to update the Amazon infoI received the black instead of redAnd it came with the tool not shown

My KwikSet SmartKey deadbolt suddenly stopped working with the key. I live in a rental house, and I call my landlord as little as possible. I thought I was going to have to replace my deadbolt, and have it keyed to match the rest of the locks, or order new keyed-alike locks for all of the entry doors and notify my landlord the locks had been changed and provide him a new key. No bueno.Then, I came across a video explaining that this is a fairly common problem that can occur with the otherwise awesome SmartKey locks, and, with this handy tool you can set your lock to re-learn your key. So, I ordered it, and within 5 minutes after it was delivered the next day, my lock was reaet and my keys worked again! It’s super fast and easy to use. It takes 10 seconds to reset your lock (minus the time to disassemble the lock, which only takes a few minutes).The only reason I give this 4 stars and not 5 is that it’s marketed as a genuine Kwikset product, but I received an unbranded copy. That said, it did exactly what I needed it to do.

Read the directions! This works perfectly. I read some reviews and people were having a hard time getting it to work. They must have not read the directions and then followed them. After using it to rekey 5 locks, that I messed up on and no key would fit, this saved me about $200. I didn’t have to buy new locks. I’m happy with this product. It works well, turns smoothly and it is easy to work.
