About this item

  • Right handed square body crank handle (viewed from inside looking out)
  • Mounting holes are 3-7/8 inch and 4-3/4 inch on center
  • Arm is 9 inch from middle of the guide button to the middle of the crank operator while closed
  • Heavy duty diecast zinc construction with a white finish
  • Steel worm drive gear for durability

This casement window operator is a right-handed white square body type. It has a 9 inch steel arm with a round disc on the tip (some older styles had a small wheel instead of a disc). The disc slides in the Prime-Line part H 3529 casement track located on the bottom of the casement window. It is worm gear driven by a 3/8 inch crank spindle. The matching crank handle that fits onto the crank spindle and installation screws are included. Mounting holes available are 3-7/8 inch and 4-3/4 inch apart.

Do not buy, after installation, you can not use your window, because this operator is made with weak metal and has large clearances inside the mechanism.

If you're cursed with these ancient metal-framed casement windows, then God help you, first of all. These cranks are a necessary evil as the original mechanisms corrode and freeze or strip. But the replacements are vastly inferior.Cast from cheap metal, the one I just got didn't even have splines cut inside the handle socket, so the handle just spun uselessly no matter how tight the set screw. Had to cannibalize a different-colored spare from a different package. Function beats looks, I suppose. The splined gear shaft is held in the body by a threaded retaining collet that will almost certainly be loose and float when you turn the crank. Be careful tightening it (hammer + small flatblade screwdriver), because it's made of brittle cast zinc and will break if you do so much as look at it wrong. This is a common failure mode. The included mounting screws had miserably undersized strip-prone Philips heads filled with paint, and they were too small for what I have to believe is a standard application. I had to salvage the old rusty screws that were ugly but matched the window frame threading. If you survive all that, you can expect these to last maybe a year...I buy them in bulk. Definitely good to clean and lubricate the sliding track and pivot, because the internal gears can't take much resistance without stripping.

It’s not precise and material is thin but it’s working. Hope it can work long time. Any way the price is good

It fits and it works. Just be sure you get the right one for the side of the window it controls. There are Left and Right versions.

Decent product and price. You can get matching right and left here. The big box stores sell these but they usually don't match, different colors or styles. The price is comparable too.The only problem is (as someone else said too) is the rivet holding the slide on the end of the arm was a bit too thick, so I also had to file the rivet (or a notch in the window frame) a bit to get it to fit through the window frame. Being 60 year old items if you clean the frame and lube the slides the operator works as is should and seems reasonably tight. Yes it is cheap hardware but what isn't compared to 60 years old hardware.

Received these casement window operators and they were cheap Chinese made junk. One of them immediately stripped the window crank spline without that much force applied. There was a huge amount of free play in the gear drive. Returned the ones I hadn't used and bought high quality replacements. Now use Truth Hardware model 23.01 operator with 10579 cranks, which are made in the US. Yes, they are more expensive, but they work and look like proper high-quality window operators.

I purchased 1 of these cranks in white to determine if it would fit in my windows. I have 3 windows in my home that are non-functional due to something or another with the crank. This purchase was a test run. Though the color doesn't match my 30 year old rusty cranks in the other parts of the house, this crank is a dream. Hopefully it'll last for a good while.

The rivet holding the slider on the end of the arm was a bit too thick, so I had to file the rivet a bit to get it to fit through the window frame slot, but other than that, the operator works as is should and seems reasonably tight. USA-made ones of better quality used to be available, but I can no longer find them. But these, really, for $11, are a good deal and do work well. I'm just glad I can still finds crank operators for 60 year old windows! I suppose it's just a matter of time before the Guvmnt mandates I have to install double-pane! Oyi!
