The 4-head VCR offers 8-event, 1-month programmable recording. The remote's Direct Dubbing button allows you to start recording from the DVD disc without complicated menu system selection or input/output selection. Other features include PAL/NTSC playback from both DVD and VCR, JPEG photo slideshows (with flip and rotate functionality), Dolby Digital decoding, 3D virtual surround sound enhancement, and tri-lingual menu display (English, French, Spanish). Progressive Scan doubles the vertical resolution of the image resulting in a noticeably sharper picture. Instead of sending a field comprising the odd lines to the screen first, followed by the field with the even lines, both fields are written at one time. there was no remote control. the connection in the back for the antenna wasn't good. it was almost like it was stripped. the drawer (?) for the dvd disc was not very sturdy, it wiggled a lot. I returned it and they charged me almost $25.00 for a restocking fee. i would not ever get anything from remix again.

It works great. I can watch all my vhs tapes and dvds. It was missing the remote control so I contacted the seller and i received 1 in 1 week! That is great customer service.

I tried to play the VHS part of my DUO VHS/DVD player and it starts initially and then phase out. I don't know if this item can be replaced but it is very disappointing that the VHS part of the player has become defective so soon. I will call Amazon to determine my options if any on this player. I don't necessarily want a refund - just one that last longer even if it's the same player that I bought in November.PS: An unexpected thing has happened in mid March timeframe - the VHS part of the Dual DVD/VHS Player has started working again. Some VHS tapes that I have to played to date still at times is somewhat distorted for short periods of times but still can be watched adequately. I'm speculating that maybe because of the age of some of the VHS Tapes that I own - some over 20 years old could be why the VHS part of the dual player acted up in the first place. I will update you on any other changes with my dual player. Thanks.

I bought a brand new one in 05 and was still working but I had broken the cable coax input. Everything is in good working order and I am very satisfied with the new unit.

this product was just what we were looking for. it was a great price and it works great. the only problem when we first got it, anything we were watching on tv while taping was fuzzy but that problem worked itself out (we just thought it was because the vcr hadn't been used that much). also, the remote to the vcr didn't work well at first but it now works well (we also attributed this to lack of use by the previous owner). overall, i would reccommend this product and seller to someone in the future.

MY GOD! I cannot believe some of the other reviews for this item! Complaints because it does not have an Eject Button on the remote control?!!! Have we become so bloody lazy in the U.S. that we cannot get off our butt and press the Eject Button on the face of the machine! Give me a break! I purchased my unit earlier this year through Amazon and while it was a little difficult to understand the different functions at first it has worked wonderfully since then. Yes, from time to time it will not switch from DVD to VCR without pressing the VCR Eject Button to re-set the machine, at the US$57.99 I paid for the unit it is a small price to pay. I have owned both Philips and Philips/Magnavox TV's, VCR's and DVD Players since the 1980's and have found them all to be very durable and long lasting if treated with respect. DVD Picture and Sound are fine on this machine and the Picture and Sound on the VCR are really dependant on the tape quality being played or recorded upon. I believe this is an exellent piece for the cost and would recomend it to those looking for an inexpensive DVD/VCR Combo!
