Very pleased with this so far. It replaced an old 2wire wifi router/modem. User interface was easy and intuitive.

I was worried about the lack of an external antenna but the wifi signal is strong and steady throughout the house. Have had it installed for about a month now and have not required a single reset. Seems to lack the ability to do MAC filtering though. All in all I'm very happy with it.

Purchased this after doing a lot of research. It was the best bang for it's buck. Lot's of features. The average use probably won't use them all but Computer Specialists like me will enjoy what this router has to offer. Here are my thoughts.Wireless signal strength is amazing on 2.4Ghz range. Reaches to my back drive way (about 150ft from where the router sits in the house). I disabled the 5Ghz Range for now because it's doesn't transmit very far like 2.4Ghz. 5Ghz wifi transmits data faster at the cost of range where 2.4Ghz transmits data a little slower but can go farther. 5Ghz it meant for inside home use only or an apartment use. Since we take are laptops and mobile devices in the yard It was better to stick with the 2.4Ghz range. If I ever put any network devices(game consoles/wifi desktops/wifi printers) on the 2nd floor I'll activate the 5Ghz wifi for them since they will always stay in one spot and close proximity of the Router.Setting up the DSL modem portion was easy. Setup is in the same matter as a router and DSL modem in bridge mode (except in this case the modem is built into the router). I have Verizon DSL and I just typed in my username and password for my DSL and it configured the rest. There is still a WAN port on this router so It can be used with Cable modems. The WAN port can also be used with DSL modems for those who have a service that isn't compatible with the built in one. I'd recommending putting the modems into bridge mode and let the router manage everything for better network stability. There is also an app for smart phones (I have it on my iPhone but I'm not sure about android). It's use as a option to manage the router. The apps capabilities are limited grants access to things like to check parental controls, network usage and wireless network name and password.I've had the router for about two months now and no issues so far. I know my review is a lot of techno-babel but I hope it helps some of you out there..The fact the it's a Gigabit Router (wired connections can run up to 1000mbps compared to only 100mbps) was another reason why I purchased it. Some of my wired devices still run at 100mbps because there network ports only support up to that speed. Where my PlayStation 3 and home server have Gigabit cards. I also installed a separate gigabit network switch when I changed out the router. Between the more powerful router and switch my entire home network runs smoother and faster. I've done Netflix streaming on my Playstation 3, downloading large files on my server, live streaming a camera system and surf the web on several laptops at the same time with no slow down. So the router can manage network traffic really well but remember that internet connection speeds also factor into how much can be done internet wise. With my DSL I have a 6.5Mbps download speed and a .866Mbps upload. Not the fastest speeds but not too bad for DSL either IMO.The router comes with USB Ports. Either to hook up a USB printer to make it accessible on the network or to hook up an external hard drive to create a Network Storage Device. I really don't see the printer option being used as most printers today have wifi and wired network capabilities. I do have a external drive hooked up. So now it's pretty simple to share files between my PCs. I was using my home server for such but it's easier for any PC to see the network storage on the router while connected to my network and I now keep my more important files locked down on the server. When configured properly too the files can accessed from any internet connected PC (a login is used to protect the files when accessing them from an outside network).

I wish I could give this 0 stars. We bought this Netgear 600 because of the advertised LPC. My wife had researched security options for our teenager and decided that router based parental controls were the only ones not likely to be hacked. The Netgear 600 did not come with any CD and only minimal printed instructions. Because we had one wireless router I was able to setup the Netgear 600 based on past experience and the printed material. I even created three accounts for our children, us, and guests--each with unique pass codes.IF all I wanted was an out of the box WIFI that was open to anyone with the pass code, I would have been done in about 2 hours. The LPC setup was where the problems occured. First, the printed material that came with the router were grossly inadequate in the technical setup and even a general understanding of how everything worked and an overview of what needed to be done. Let me provide some details here because this is a mess!Overview: LPC require an account on a certain Open DNS server. Each device that accesses a WIFI network on the router requires the download and installation of the Netgear Genie application for tablets/phones, or the desktop program for computers. The first thing you need to do is install the appropriate application/program on all your devices before turning on the LPC. It took about 6 hours on technical support for me to figure that out. Some details:The LPC requires several things to work together for it to function at all. You have to go through the router to set up the OpenDNS account. The Genie application (or PC programs) installed on each device has to interface with the OpenDNS account based on the custom settings for each by-pass account. On a PC, you have to install a Management Utility and a User Utility. The Management Utility allows you to set custom parental control settings for each by-pass account. The User Utility allows you to select and log into (with password) the by-pass account of your choice. You will notice the Parental Control button on the Basic tab when you log into the router. This button does NOTHING except open a new tab/window in your web browser to the Netgear web page for you to download the PC programs (Management and User Utilities). This should all be built into the router itself!Once you turn on LPC, the instructions indicate you to set a global default security level to the highest setting. Then each device/user needs to have a by-pass account set up. If you don't have the Netgear Genie (or PC programs) downloaded at this point, the high security level will prevent any future attempt. "Go to a coffee shop" was the advice I got from one technical support person. The Netgear Genie app is supposed to allow each user/device to access a by-pass account you have set up with lower (custom) parental control settings than the global default. I have a Casio Commando smart phone and the Genie app does not allow access to any of the by-pass accounts I have set up. I have a Kindle Fire that will not even download the Netgear Genie application. So for me, I have two devices that the LPC renders almost useless! Yes, they will connect to the WIFI network, but only under the global default high security setting LPC that prevent access to anything useful or fun (e.g., Facebook, YouTube, Google play, Amazon applications etc.). So much for following instructions. If you can get the Netgear Genie app to download and install on your devices, and if the Genie will work, the LPC seem to function properly on my teenager's new PC and iPod.I have spent over 8 hours on technical support phone calls trying to get my phone and Kindle Fire on the network without being under the global default high parental control settings. The three Netgear technical support people I have spoke with were not capable or just plain ignorant. So don't expect much help from Netgear in setting up the LPC.I think my final solution will be to have the kids and guests use the Netgear 600 networks I have set up. I will have to keep the old router and use it seperately for my wife and I. The idea that the Netgear 600 would replace the old router was false.

The Good.1. Modem and Router in ones with dual band decent web GUI setup solution.2. SPI and NAT filtering firewall.3. Guest network, access on either or both bands. The Not So Good.1. No VPN integration (Open VPN) native support highly recommended.2. Over complicated setup. Would appreciate a simple and expert mode, at times I do not want to spend a long time to configure a routers completely. A quick, secure default option would be nice.3. Third party firmware support.4. More RAM would be beneficial.5. USB 3 ports.I really wanted to like this products, however with critical shortcomings it was not worth my time and effort.

This is a replacement for the Modem / Router provided by my ISP. Our wired network has became somewhat complex, with a variety of clients. Reliability had become an issue with the old router and various modifications did not help.Enter the Netgear N600 (the DGND3700). Our ISP was not listed as "supported" and when I tried the setup wizard, it would not finish. Then I noticed it had established a connection the the ISP and was online in spite of this. I connected the various devices, including 2, 1000MB switches. It all worked first try. The next day I did have to reboot the Netgear router to revive the network, but it has been going strong ever since (over a month). For reference, it runs Windows XP, Windows 7, BSD & Linux, mostly through 1000MB ethernet adapters (and a few 100MB adapters) and a cable box. Wireless to PSP, Blackberry, Iphone, Macbook and a Dell laptop. It seems quite fast. We get every bit or the internet speed provided by our ISP and internal transfer speeds hover around 400 Mb. This being limited by other hardware, not the Netgear. It has an easy interface and every configuration option I would need, including options for changing the LAN IP addresses and MAC address cloning for the Modem. My one request for this model is that it have 8 LAN ports. To sum it up......I am finally at peace with my network because of this router.
