I got this orbi with extended satellite to replace my spectrum modem rental which was giving me a headache but since I got orbi I love it it's a modem built with wifi and and i don't have to have separate modem and a wifi router since I change to orbi I haven't had any problems knock on wood I love it so far it works how it spouse to work and I'm running it on 400mbp no problem ❤ and works with spectrum and its fast. I love there app design which let's you know who connects to your wifi it also let's you customize names and icons which I love it helps me know what is connected to my wifi also it has a guest wifi in case you don't like giving you main wifi away also you can costimze the the time you want the guest wifi to be on and you can see who connects through the app also you can disconnect any person using your app like ps4 or phones using the wifi I find useful when I ground my little brother and you can name you wifi and guest wifi and have different passwords good thing you'll find the app really useful and customer services is helpfully to so I really like the orbi modem with wifi and the app you can do much like run speeds and see who is connected and name the consoles or anything is connected like firestick or game console or phones to be honest I saw some rewies and was looking through a lot consoles but I'm happy I chose those the only thing it gets a bit hot sometimes that about any complaints I have and the setup was pretty straight forward in case you get stuck customer helps you out one more thing if you have 5ghz and 2.4ghz with orbi it combines to one yeah I was bit lost when I wouldn't see the 2.4ghz(UPDATE)(SPECTRUM CUSTOMERS WITH 400MBPS ULTRA PLAN) 2/16/21I just called spectrum customer service to see if there was any news on the outage of spectrum internet services in my area. While I call customer service I was confused why they send menew internet kit. I had no idea and I ask they guy why and he told me that it was because spectrum was updating everything? And my netgear orbi built-in wifi was no longer going to work with there services and was out of dated and not in list. I'm mad Because they didn't give anyone a warning, second some of the modem built-in wifi ain't cheap, third they give you a there free equipment which is modem and wifi separately and that didn't work for me that was my number one reason why I got my own modem built-in wifi was because spectrum equipment acted up on me alot had so many problems playing games doing task or work stuff that's why i bought my own modem built-in wifi my orbi that can take up 500mbps. I hope my orbi is still works because this bull, I really hope orbi works I really love it and I hadn't had any problems with netgear orbi plus I love there app you can see who is connected and disconnected people or kids you can name and change the icons to anything that is connected to orbi and you can customize your own interne wifi name and change the passwords also you customize your account that i love alot but right now I'm in in tight budget and i can't afford to buy another one orthe lasted newer orbi version that might work with spectrum and with everything going on its hard. I'm mad and upset I mean $360.99 is still $$$ .we need better modem built wifi for work and printing and updating are phones also are smart tvs and homework crazy I had this orbi bearly since 01/21/2020. This crazy I'm really crossing my fingers this work I'm sure this already late to return even if I return it and get my money back the new version is bit more expensive. Im cross my fingers here and hope my orbi still works. I'll update see what happens in couole days 😭

I am an IT professional and I have a lot of experience with networking. Most of this kind of equipment is a major pain in the hindquarters to set up and manage. This equipment is only a very minor pain to set up and its performance is mostly as advertised. I'm favorably impressed. For those of you who care, it looks very good; a nice shape and color that should easily fit with your décor. You can purchase a clear acrylic shelf for it if needed. I bought one but sent it back because it did not come with mounting hardware. I'm glad I did so because I was not able to position the units as I initially planned.Placing the units such that I got the reception I wanted was a bit of a challenge but I did eventually manage. I placed the master unit near the center of my home. The satellite unit went into a corner of the TV room at the far end of the house; it's hard wired to the Roku and AirTV units. Everything else is wireless. The Amazon Fire unit works fine, even though it's mere inches from the satellite. My PC got decent reception with no external antenna and gets great reception with an external antenna. There are no discernible issues when simultaneously watching HD TV, Alexa playing music and downloading something on the PC.I recommend that you move the units around your home to find the best positioning. After each move, press the button to reconnect the satellite and master. If at all possible, you want to see both units displaying their blue lights of happiness (i.e. satellite displays yellow when it's not optimally placed and crimson when it's very unhappy). Then: 1) walk around the house with your phone and watch the number of Wi-Fi bars - you may have to stop and wait in each location because most phones need a moment or two to reregister reception and redisplay the reception bars; 2) Do the same thing with each device that you intend to use that displays reception level. If you have a laptop, run a speed test from various locations. It's going to take time (and quite a bit of schlepping) to find the best positions for the master and satellite units but it is worth it.The setup instructions are adequate and the management dialog is actually quite good. I like being able to tag my devices with a description. I did not mess around with any of the delivered settings because they are all reasonable for my needs.BEFORE you start pairing the first device, change the passwords for both the admin user and the Wi-Fi, especially the latter. Use 12 characters for maximum security and tape them to the bottom of the unit so that they don't get lost.IMPORTANT NOTE: This modem is approved by Comcast for their services of up to 400Mbs at the "mydeviceinfo" location of their site as "netgear-cbr40-647". They DO NOT approve it for their higher speed services. As far as I know, AT&T doesn't permit you to use your own modem. One final thought: I did not do this but I believe it to be possible to switch to this unit without changing all of your connected devices. I would suggest this only to a confident user with experience. Note the SSID (Network Name) of your existing Wi-Fi router and then turn it OFF. Change the SSID of the Orbi to match the existing SSID and change the Wi-Fi password to match that of your existing Wi-Fi network. I believe that that should work. I didn't do it because my existing Wi-Fi password was only 8 characters and I used this opportunity to strengthen it to 12.
