Highly durable. Just wish it had a way to clamp onto the trash can because garbage men just unhook it and it falls to the ground so I have to pick it up off the ground each time.

I purchase these, because it has 2 colors, red and black. I live in a rural area where there's no street lights and that my garbage gets picked up way before sunrise. With the 2 colored straps, they stand out in the dark for the garbage men to see. I highly recommend the 2 pcs medal trash can lid lock straps over your typical bungee cords.

My garage is not attached. The corner of it is just right around my living room window. Well, my trash cans sit pretty close to my living room window. This past summer, I've been getting the living you know what scared outta me. I thought it was the wind that was slamming my trash can lid slamming. I just perhaps one day went to throw something out and....there was a racoon jetting out of my can with the lid slamming as it took off!! I 1st tried a bungee cord but, looping multiples around the handle all the way down to the round metal bar at the low bottom side got to be a pain!! Being fed up of having to undo all that, I was curious if others has issues and if there was something out there for this particular issue. After searching for the right key words, it led me here!! There are many others to choose from. This one grabbed my attention. I bought it and GLAD I did!! These elastic lid straps are awesome and choice!! Very well made, had good tension, adjusts real easy. Heavy duty!! Pictured is how I had it before. I was curious to see how long it could adjust out. It made it all the way to the other side to the bar. The way I have it in the picture was a temporary test. I now currently have it to where it's at the handle all the way across the lid over the side to the metal bar. When I have to throw something away, I made the tension easy for it to come unattached yet, keep the tension so the pesky racoon that can't open it up.There are no cons with these!

The first night, I just had it sort of tight and the raccoons got it off, but the next night it was cinched up very tight, and they could not get in. This is nice because it can easily be removed for me to get in the can.

In my neighborhood we have all sorts of wild animals but it's the raccoons that get into our compost and trash bins most often. They're smart animals, often working in tandem or as a trio to get the bin lids open.We had been using short, hooked bungee cords to keep the lids held down but the cords been taking a beating from both the animals and the elements. The outer shells have been deteriorating and are now kind of gross to handle. These clawed straps are very welcome replacements. While the bungee cords did work, these straps are better suited to the task given the wide 2.6" claws on the ends. These claws grip onto a few places on our bins quite well, allowing for flexible placement.Putting on a strap is fairly straightforward, just loosen the buckle to lengthen the elastic strap enough to get the claws onto overhangs on the bin. Then tighten the strap by adjusting the buckle again. Our bins are 28" deep, including the handles, and these straps fit with room to spare. My only concerns with this product are long term ones:-- Will the straps hold up to animal teeth and claws over time?-- Will the straps hold up to sun, rain, cold and heat over time?-- Will animals figure out how to loosen the strap via the buckle either by accident or – scary thought – purposefully? For now I'm happy to replace the grungy bungee cords we have been using with these sturdy straps. It will take some time to gauge how well these straps will ultimately work long term. For now, I'm rating this product a full 5 stars for their excellent construction and utility.

These cannot stop a bear at all and it is silly to even think it would. It will keep smaller animals such as raccoons etc out but as soon as the bear came it was ripped right apart.

The HANPINYUAN straps do a great job of holding things down. I have used them in an alternate application where I need something to hold my potted blueberry plants down to keep the wind from knocking them over. I placed the strap under a 16"x16" stone paver and ran the hooks onto the plastic pot, creating a heavy base. The straps have plenty of adjustment, and were able to be extended to fit snugly. I live in Central Florida, and when we get a windy storm, my plants typically get knocked over. We recently had hurricane Milton come right over us, and it gave the straps a test. They held the blueberry pots in place and the plants didn't fall down, impressive. These straps should have no problem performing their intended function keeping the garbage can lids down. The straps are heavy duty, and the hooks are plastic coated metal which is solid and does not give. The wide elastic can give a lot of holding force, which can be adjusted by changing the length. If you need to keep you trash can lid down, I can attest to their strength and holding force.
