I purchased this for a family member who has a bear problem. The listing has the installation instructions but he said when he opened the box it was just straps and screws in a bag. There were no directions resulting in me having to go back to the listing, take a screenshot of the directions, and text it over. A one page insert showing these directions would be ideal. That being said, product seems to work well and is very easy to open as a human.

The trash can straps arrived on time and well packaged. These are a great idea to keep problem animals like racoons out of your trash can! They were not hard to install, however when drilling the hole you need to make sure your hole is straight so everything lines up.

We had a problem with our garbage can lids blowing open due to the wind, and using a big rock on top wasn’t ideal. These new lids solved everything! They’re easy to install and work exceptionally well. Now, we don’t have to deal with lifting a heavy rock every time we need to take out the trash. Highly recommended for anyone dealing with similar issues!

These straps are really good quality and the included bolts will hold them firmly in place. Be ware you may not be able to drill your local trash bins based on city ordinance, but if you do these clips will keep the kids closed. You can also use these in other applications for items you need clips closed, like boat seat chairs and fold down. Install is straightforward, pre-drilling you holes and then install the bolt, strap, and nut as needed.

We have a local ordinance that states we cannot put our trash on the curb until the morning of trash day, and we tend to keep the cans in the garage, shed, or some other space animals can't get to. The ordinance is in place specifically because of the critters, but the problem is they just wait until everyone heads to work and then lay waste to all the cans. We've all gotten pretty inventive trying to keep them out of the cans, several home grown methods involving chains have worked the best, along with super heavy stones on the lids, but our poor garbage collectors tend to spend a lot of time working these things out, or lifting more than they should have to for those of us that used the stones.Thankfully, our bears are super lazy, if they can't flip the lid, they just move on to the next can, because there's always someone who didn't weigh the lid down, or a new kid who didn't know any better. I grabbed these, and I'm using one on each of our three cans, we typically only have two to put out at a time though. The fourth is for the recycling can, and I swear the bears know there's no food in them, but want to play with the contents. Since installing these, I don't have to use super heavy rocks, I asked our collectors about them and they said they're much better than the home grown methods and easy to pop off. The lazy bears haven't bothered trying to work out how to open them, and several of my neighbors have installed these, so we have a bonus effect of the bears mostly avoiding our block now.

I needed a lock to comply with the city sanitation guidelines. It was easy to install on my trash can and works without any issues. It has helped with the rat problem in my city. Regarding durability, it still functions well after a long period, though there is some rust. I’m uncertain if this will affect performance in the distant future. So far, I am compliant with sanitation guidelines and have received no tickets.
