Seems to work well and we believed it was accurate b/c it turned on and off according to ambient air temperature when we tested it . Easy to set temperature, b/c it is similar to an interior wall timer. Nice weather cover.The plug end gets bulky because the deicer plug end has to insert into this plug end, which makes it so big it does not allow us to fully close the weather cover on our exterior electrical outlet at our dock. The price is high at 3 figures.

We use this at our dock to keep ice from forming. We control the on/off with the thermostat which it comes with. We set ours at 28deg. and it comes on automatically and goes off automatically when water temperature is above the set level. This is our second one. We used the first one for 4 years and it rusted. We believe this happened due to poor off season storage. Highly recommend for peace of mind.

The thermostat controls the one horse power deicer. It is accurate within one degree and saves money on the electric bill. I have a brand new floating dock and bulkhead in an active canal. It cost quite a bit of money and the deicer will surely keep it from breading up

worked all winter without a problem... no ice on the pier as a result (running an ice eater).. no complaints.. we'll see how many seasons it lasts... if I re-purchase, I will probably go with the next version that also has a timer -- so that IF the time is between X and Y, AND the temperature is below Z, then turn on... right now, it's just temperature, which is what I wanted... but the time would be an improvement based on where I live and watching a neighbor's pier that had the additional feature...

I know that I will be pleased with this product. Wasn't able to hook it up this year because of location of De-Icer on a slippery dock covered with ice. Next year I know that I will be thrilled.

This product performs exactly as advertised the big difference between this unit and competitors which are half the price is quality. You know that satisfying sound when you close the door on a Mercedes? That's what you get with Kasco original products. At first I bought a cheap thermostat for $30 which was immediately returned and replaced with this unit. The $30 unit was practically a toy, there's no way it would've lasted even a season. This is an industrial quality thermostat which is designed for one purpose which is to turn on and off their deicing units. This is the first year that I've needed one and I've got their entire set up from the half horsepower motor to the dock amount and the thermostat. This works better than expected and comes on precisely where I said it. All of my neighbors ponds/lakes are frozen except mine… My ducks love me for it!!
