I selected this bagel slicer because the description said support a small business. So I felt deceived when the package had a big made in China sticker. Plus, the description said it was stainless steel. The blade is stainless steel but the rest is plastic.

Got a new toaster oven with a bagel setting and have been enjoying eating more bagels. This item lets you slice them quickly and cleanly, while being safe and mess-free. The crumb catcher at the bottom works perfectly. Plus the footprint is nice.

I have been wanting a bagel slicer for years but could not justify an appliance for just a few uses per month. Then my family went through a bagel phase and it made sense. We were cutting bagels with a bread knife and that led to a few deep cuts over the years.I read tons of reviews and selected this model. Kinda a waste of money.If you are using very firm bulk packaged bagels, then this is the product for you.If you are using artesian or bakery bagels, walk away slowly. I tried this on several brands of bagels and using the guillotine they never cut through and were unrecognizable as anything other than a lump of bread material.I did find it useful for putting the bagel in the cutter and the using a bread knife to cut the bagel using the slots.One safety issue I encountered was the guillotine and the base don't snap together in anyway. So when your brain tells you to see the handle to pick up the device, you promptly have the base, which is heavy, fall on your foot. In my caW it was my head because I had it stored on an upper pantry shelf.
